Point em' out #2: Michael Kidd-Gilchrist

Many people on the forum giving me heat for calling out Kemba Walker on his regression. Now its time to put Michael Kidd-Gilchrist on the hot seat in my new series I will be titling Point em' out. In this series I will be, in lil waynes words, "callin n*****s out, like the umpire"
Lets go with Michael Kidd-Gilchrist

Just like Kemba he is having a regression in some stats this year
Rebounds (5.8 to 5.3) Assist (1.5 to 0.7) Steal ( .7 to .6) Block (.9 to .6) 3ptFG% ( 22% to 0%) TO (1.3 to .7)

Some Metric Stats as well:
Player Efficiency Rating (League average is 15.0) : his PER is down from 14 last yr to 11.7 this yr.
Turnover percentage (11.7 to 17.2)

It goes on and on but I am doing this post from phone and has already taken 45 minutes to gather stats but the fact of the matter is, MKG isn't cutting it and has not proven to be worthy of his #2 pick. His numbers do not match up to the average starting SF in the league and although this Charlotte team has a decent record this year, they are only winning due to the fact that other teams are tanking so they are getting wins they normally shouldnt. Dont get yourselves this team is a good team because it is far from that right now. We need 1-2 more drafts before we DESERVE a 5-6th seed in the east

Everyone knew he was going to be a multi-year offensive project. Meanwhile, he is playing as good of defense as anyone in the league on the top SF's- Lebron, Paul George, Carmelo, and Rudy Gay.

Again, I think you're calling out the wrong guys. Who's next...Zeller?

Im probably going to call out everyone. #umpire

His defense is better than last year and he also has probably made double the amount of jumpshots this year then he did all of last season. I'd say for a multi year project that's pretty good. He's freaking 20 years old.

Also every players stats will go down with a player like Big Al. The team as a whole though should be better and as the record shows right now we are.

we are winning in a league which is purposely losing. Dont let that record fool you.

    • Yes.  And this converts directly to confidence.  Does the coach have confidence to call a deep dig or seam route?  Does Bryce have confidence in his ability to be the Alpha?  Do his teammates have confidence.  About film--when I see Cam Newton's pre-snap confidence vs. Bryce's, it is night and day.   Film--tells you if the WRs are open (why l love watching the Replay telecasts from the end zone cameras--you can see it.  I have seen 2 WRs open and Bryce's eyes are on the outlet WR or the pass rush. )  You can see progressions, and he has improved a bit--but he is very quick to rush through 1 and 2 and checkdown--that is a lack of confidence in his ability to read the defense.  I had a former NFL TE (Deems Maye) who played QB in high school (not sure about college) tell me that the best QBs read the defense by knowing where everyone will be when the ball is to arrive--not where they are.  I think his QB at the time was Humphries.  He said that Humphries would throw the ball into coverage before the cuts etc.  because he understood DB momentum, zone areas, etc.  and he could just see it.  Said so when people say nobody was open, they are usually right because nobody should be "open" when the QB has the ball--when the ball arrives, everyone should be open.  He said Humphries was never "great" but his skills were limited--from a small school--but his ability to read a defense made him never give up on a route.
