It seems like Luke has been giving up quite a few passing TD's

You may disagree with me here.........but Luke's biggest asset is his motivation and intelligence.............he is a student of the game which is essential for a LB.............

 

But he's a bit undersized and not the most gifted athlete.........I've seen some games where he's been flat out leveled on plays because of that.

 

I like his play.......and I'll take smart over brawn any day in that position but don't expect him to be a tight end play killer at his size..............You need a more physical beast for that ........

 

 

Do you know who he reminds me of?

 

the great HOF Steeler linebacker of the 70's Super bowl teams from Penn State ...........Jack Ham.

 

He's built and plays just like him...........and with that he has a potential HOF career ahead of him........

To be honest, Thomas Davis has been giving up some easy receptions too. I'm starting to wonder if it's the zone scheme we're running that's causing Luke to look like crap in pass coverage at times. We're giving way too much cushion underneath.

 

Now this is a good and fair post.

 

It may very well be the zone. That cushion may be a big enough difference to give them the advantage in the passing game.

 

That said, we are NOT a team that breaks zone for anything. It be nice when having such matchups that we give him a free reign to go man or change the call and run with him.

 

^In example, I believe on the one play that Luke had an interception against the Falcons, he was running with Tony the whole time and read it.

There were a few whispers about his Pass defense, but it has seem pretty apparent. He gave up the Tony G TD, Gronk did him in, Jimmy Graham got'em last week and he seemed to give up at least one today if not two.

What, objectively, do you believe Luke needs to do to improve his pass defense?

Did you just name three of the best TEs in the NFL?

Two if which have arguably the best QBs I'm the NFL throwing to them?

HMMMMMMM........

I think our scheme in the back end is more of an Issue than Kuechly's coverage skills. Tampa 2 gets shredded vs good QBs...

Kuechly did get an INT covering Gonzo this year..remember? The ability is there...I think our zone coverage gameplan is weak IMO
