One answer that may already be on the roster (BR haters, beware)

Weaknesses

Doesn't have ideal bulk. Dropped passes have been an issue for King during his career, and he doesn’t always find the ball in the air or go up to high-point passes downfield. Though he is quick and elusive, he’ll out-juke himself trying to make defenders miss in the open field. While is capable of making a block outside on quick screens, King also doesn’t offer consistent physicality.

well, he does sound like a Panther receiver...

So, we're supposed to make fun of a rookie who hasn't seen the field, declare him a bust before he has even gotten started---mind you that no one has ever declared him the savior of the franchise---not the answer, but an answer---and, in a way, mock three GMs for seeing some talent in the guy, enough so that they wanted him on their team? Brilliant.

Good grief.  People need to realize NFL players do not come our as boom or busts.  Sometimes a guy has great physical skills but can't mentally get it.  Sometimes it's the opposite.  Our GM is doing what he's supposed to do and that's give the coaches the best possible prospects.  That's it.

Not one of them is saying.  Hey, the Broncos liked him and he can replace LaFell.  They loading up the team with the best they can find and then through the process of playing, practice, training camp etc. the team projects who can help the team win.  Sometimes that projection is based on speculation if the guy has not played a lot of NFL snaps.

There are almost no sure things in the NFL.  People are still talking about if Cam is our franchise QB.  Last year at this time what would people have given up for Hakeem Hicks?

All I'm saying is we don't have plans to cut any starter because we found potential in King.  If we get to the point where it's him or the man above him, than and only then will a decision be made.  You try to get the very best ingredients you can find and put them in your cart but when it's time to checkout you only buy the best of the bunch.

Our savior is a fifth round WR that hasn't yet made an active roster? I'm all for giving the kid some reps and a real shot, but I don't think they'll do it.

We still need a first round WR talent, and more prospects for our future number one.

And Steve Smith was a 3rd rounder who was taken for his return abilities above all else. What is your point? That diamonds in the rough don't exist? That steals in the draft don't exist? I look at it the same way the OP is. He is a solid receiver (at least, was in college) who got drafted by a team that has TONS of talent at the receiver position. Denver has drafted GOOD receivers. They evaluate the WR position pretty well, based on who they have there. So, I have to believe this guy is good. Why we haven't activated him is anybody's guess, but to say he can't be that good just because he hasn't been activated is asinine.

I'm not saying he is definitely going to be our savior at the position and I do want us adding talent there if we can in the offseason. My point is, your reason for discrediting him is ridiculous.

If King turns out to be something, great. But considering our current WR production it doesn't say much for him that he can't even get a jersey. I doubt King's name is even mentioned in conversations among the staff on whether or not to draft a WR. We need starting caliber WRs, not roster fodder. We already have plenty of the latter.

Looks like top dawg finally let go of David Gettis, and picked a new guy to hype up relentlessly based on his expert evaluation skills.

And TheRed has found another weak excuse to attempt to disparage another Huddler in a useless follow-the-asshole type mentality by taking said Huddler's words out of context, or basically outright lying, about what said Huddler has expressed in a thread, while simultaneously disregarding what said Huddler has made very clear in other threads.

So basically, you're upset? Okay.

How about this, let the guy play a down of football in the NFL before you declare him an answer to anything. Pretty simple.

So, I guess you don't know what the word "may" means. In TheRed's world, I guess "may" means "declare". How surprising.

There haven't been any declarations made in this thread, or on Bleacher Report regarding Tavarres King. I guess you just skipped over the part where everyone said that he could possibly be better than expected if he gets to play a down of football.

Reading Comprehension must not be TheRed's forte. Is that pretty simple to understand, or do I have to break it down further?

“He came in today and showed his quickness, explosiveness and ability to ****** the ball.”

He's gonna what the football?

In all seriousness, he'll likely get a lot of looks in camp next year. If he impresses, well and good.

I agree that we should still look for a top receiver high in the draft though.
