I'll say it again.....Keenan Allen

We do rely on Cam to win us games. He is 95% of our offense. You have the defense and then it's ok Cam go out up points.

You say you like Gettlemans plan, but that plan has failed to a degree. The plan was that our WR corps was so good that Ginn would be a special teams player that would see a few snaps. Edwards and Hixon was suppose to be fighting for the #3 spot. Instead we've had to rely on Ginn almost too much, Hixon doesn't play, and Edwards is in Cleveland.

So that plan actually hasn't worked out that well. We are fortunate Ginn has been able to contribute the way he has or the WR group could have been scary bad.

Uhhhhhh.........NO!!!!!!

Our defense is the reason we are winning games.  Cam and the offense are doing enough to keep us in games right now.  We are not relying on them to put up 25-30 pts a game to have a chance to win.  Our defense has put them in a position that 17 pts a game will put us in a position to win.

Gettlemen has a plan.  Based on what I have seen and heard the plan is this......

Fix the defense...taking the pressure off our young QB.

Build the team from the trenches out.

Add complimentary pieces on shorter and cheaper contracts to make us more than competetive while we fix the Hurney mess.

Witha  9-4 record right now....I would say he knows what he is doint.

So, calm down and enjoy the ride.

and like i said. it is WAYYYYYY to early to tell. both have produced great at their respective positions for rookies. and kk plays wayyy less snaps than keenan. kk is second string, keenan is first string because of injuries.

i like keenan a lot and wanted us to draft him. but i'm glad we got kk. with Cam we can still compete with substandard WR this year. we needed to solidify the D and go on from there. I like how DG's plan is working so far because it gave us the best chance to compete right now. still lots more work to do.

once we get the offensive pieces we will be scary good.

Kk unfollowed me on vine so I'm pissed and that's all that matters right now.

Allen has a better passing game going for him. We dont know he would be as productive here this year.

Perhaps, but we'll never know.

I could be wrong, but I just bet that Allen would have made more of an impact here than Short (who I like, mind you, so no disrespect to Short), and I bet that Short would have been more productive in San Diego than he has been here. Just saying.

It's all pure speculation. But, like I've said, no need to ponder or rue the past. Back to the other thread...

Remember Keary Cobert's breakout rookie year? It was an awesome indication of future years of greatness!

Rum is right. One good rookie campaign does not make a perennial all-pro.

Sorry for bringing up ol' stone hands McSmiles.

Comparing Allen to Colbert is basically disingenuous. Have you actually watched Allen play? There is nothing even remotely close.  Even some of Allen's peers are singing his praises, as well as the media. Colbert? LOL

When Allen ran that route, I KNEW he would be good in the NFL... he was my number 1 pick hands down. He got injured and kinda fell off but I knew he would come back I was surprised he fell to the 3rd, but when we double dipped on DT of all positions and I watched Allen stay on board I couldn't believe it. I remember being one of the only few that hated that we drafted 2 DT's, good picks, but we could have addressed another weakness

and very ignorant to base your opinion on who is the best pick out of 13 games in year 1.

I disagree. It may be a small sample. but I've already seen enough to know that Keary Colbert is going to be a solid receiver for years to come.

Wait... Who are we talking about?

Better hope Star doesn't fall into that then eh?

Or since we actually picked Star he is immune to being a future bust? same with kk right?

What was your point again.......

Star and KK are awesome see see we did the right thing.

Allen is playing well but you better watch out! he may suck later!

Fixing the defense and the offense are really not mutually exclusive. What people fail to realize, or just want to simply ignore, is that the offense has taken a marked step back, notwithstanding our 9-4 record.  I reject the notion that our defense has made Cam better. Theoretically, the defense has absolutely nothing to do with Cam getting better. Cam has to continue to work out and improve upon his footwork and other inconsistencies, and Short along with the rest of the D-line can't help him do that.

Granted, we have improved upon our record because of our defense, but I could easily argue that the games we have lost is because of our offense, and not just the O-line, but our lack of a consistent playmaker at WR (i.e., a consistent threat to take it to the house on any given play). other than an old soldier that is slowly fading away.

What a difference a couple of young, legitimate space-eating and/or run-stopping DTs make, right?  Well, what do you suppose a couple of young, legitimate chain-moving and/or socks-off-blowing threats at WR would do for the offense? And don't tell me that Cam can't get them the ball because I have seen too many key drops this season and questionable separation from our WRs this season to blame all our offensive ills on the O-line.  To be sure, we need to fix the O-line, but I prefer a stable and proven vet protecting my QB over a rookie any day.

Quite the contrary. I think Allen will be a phenomenal player. I think Star and KK will be great for us for a while together. I just know not to base too much on a great rookie season. Granted, Allen and Colbert are two very different WRs on two very differently schemed offenses.
