I'll say it again.....Keenan Allen

Seems to me that we could make the same argument about dozens of playeres every year. We picked who we did and are 9-4 at least in some part due to a much improved defensively line. So no I wouldn't have picked Kenan over short . I am glad he is doing well for the chargers. But each team picks what they want or need and we did a pretty good job for us. Other than Edwards we had nothing for a 3 technique d tackle and he is almost over the hill.

Keenan Allen wasn't just some player like many of you keep suggesting. We showed a large amount of interest in him, probably more interest than any other team. How many players can we say our own damn position coach participated AND hosted their pro day? If you would take KK over Allen in a redraft your just dumb. We didn't take a WR because of mvp Edwards and LVP Gettis, and then they get cut.

Do you not see how many drops they have each game. Usually they're drops in big situations. I think they're playing ok based on their talent but they're not good enough.

No i see the drops, and im not saying they are not there. However everyone drops the ball sometimes. I do however believe that we are winning despite the drops so its not as bad as it could be. I think Cam sometimes throws to hot on some short stuff as well, so the blame cant go on them alone for the drops. I will say most are the fault of the WR, however they still are doing good enough. I was one of the guys wanting a WR as well, but i think things have worked out this year. I think that they FO thought they did not need to bring in a late round wr in here as they had a bunch here already in that mold. They know they need to get a number one, and the chances of doing that late in the draft are rare. Hindsight is 20/20 on this one, but before draft you could say what does he offer that one of our guys on the roster doesnt. In this case they missed one, but you cant blame them.

Seriously. Why even discuss it?

It's gotten to the point now that it's kinda like eating cold pork 'n beans everyday for two weeks straight.

Let's give it a rest, and move on.

Umm maybe because there is a 13 page thread on this forum discussing a #1 Wr, and many of us had to listen about how their wasn't one in this draft. Combine that with the fact that we basically helped Keenan Allen improve his draft stock and we didn't even take him. If anyone should have known how good he would be it should have been us.

Here is the drops

54 Steve Smith WR Car 60 6 103 58.3 % 5.8% 55

Brandon LaFell WR Car 45 4 74 60.8 % 5.4% 56

Greg Olsen TE Car 58 3 88 65.9 % 3.4% 57

Ted Ginn Jr. WR Car 31 3 58 53.4 % 5.2% 58

Kenjon Barner RB Car 2 1 3 66.7 % 33.3% 59

DeAngelo Williams RB Car 20 1 29 69.0 % 3.5% 60

Domenik Hixon WR Car 3 0 3 100.0 % 0.0% 61

Mike Tolbert RB Car 21 0 26 80.8 % 0.0% 62

Jonathan Stewart RB Car 7 0 7 100.0 % 0.0%

its really not bad, but again its when they drop them that maters. we have a good WR group, not a Great WR group. However we are not built to have that group to get us to wins, we are built to punish on the DL. and let the offence not turn the ball over.

Our greatest weakness became possibly our greatest strength in the first two rounds of last year's draft.  If KK were a bust then I would feel differently, but he is not.  You cannot filled eight holes with one pick, it takes time.

Regardless of whether we go WR, OL or CB in the first two rounds this year, there will be someone from the "neglected" position that has a good first fourteen games next season.  That will not make Gettleman's choice a mistake.

Dude, many of us thought we were in fact drafting Allen. I was among that number as I've pointed out earlier in this year (with links saying as much, but am too lazy and tired to do now because we've discussed Allen, and Gordon ad nauseum). It's too late. Why don't you do what I have done, and start perusing videos for  possibilities  next year?

They've been ok...serviceable is probably the best adjunctive. Just like our secondary. But those drops always seem to come in critical situations. You could definitely argue that they've been in game changing situations. Nevertheless, you're right we do need a #1. Would could have picked Jeffery in the 3rd and he's looking pretty great. Since he's from SC we've all had a chance to watch him so we should have been comfortable knowing he was going to be a NFL WR.

I'm starting the Landry bandwagon. I think he's going to move up to the late first round. However, not sure we can afford to not pick an OL in the first .

I'll tell ya what. Why don't we just start a support group (thread), where anytime someone feels like venting about missed possibilities at WR, we can go to that thread and commiserate to our hearts content on what could have been?  We can nominate some poor slob crying about spilled milk moderate it. I could have been that moderator a few weeks ago, but now I'm just ready to move on.

we didnt have a third round pick, and the fourths would be high risk reward guys. hopefully we get a number one this year.
