I think we would be a better team right now with Star/Allen than Star/Short. We will never know and we can agree to disagree, but while Star/Short failed to get pressure on Brees, Cam could have used a guy like Allen to get open and put up some points.

you don't realize how huge this DT tandem is going to be for us if they stay healthy and progress. They have already shown what they can do and i don't think its unreasonable to expect more growth. we would have another huge gap in the dt position with dwans age and become a free agent again after next year. Cam can still put up points with suspect WR. Thats why this gave us the best chance this year, as well as our future.

 

i think allen is going to be a good WR. but we just solidified our core defense. time to move to O in the offseason. get cam some weapons. solidified our D, then solidify our O. one needed it more desperately than the other. because this is a TEAM game.

I could be wrong, but I just bet that Allen would have made more of an impact here than Short (who I like, mind you, so no disrespect to Short), and I bet that Short would have been more productive in San Diego than he has been here. Just saying.
