I'll say it again.....Keenan Allen

And the fact we didn't take him says what? It says we valued DT as a bigger need. Even after drafting Star. I could argue It is the reason we struggle to score points at time. Instead of balancing the team we went heavy to one side of the ball. You guys that scream we are 9-4 shows how ass this team has been over the years.

The team is 9-4 because of the defense and the defense is playing well because of Star and KK. Allen may have helped the offense but he wouldn't have tipped the scales and won games.

So in your mind, evaluating DT as a bigger need = being comfortable with Armanti and Gettis at WR? You don't understand the concept of having multiple holes or what? We had 5 freaking draft picks, we couldn't fix everything in one draft.

You claim that Gettleman was content with our WR situation based off of him not using our 1st nor 2nd round pick on what he deemed to be a bigger position of need. Yet his actions seem to contradict that notion...yet again I ask, if he was comfortable with our WR situation, then why would he even bother wasting resources and time to scout Keenan Allen so much? The fact that he ended up drafting Short is irrelevant...unless you believe in elaborate "smokescreens" leading up to the draft. Why would he have signed Hixon in the offseason? Hixon was about the best receiver we could have realistically gotten with our budget at the time. Yeah he isn't contributing anything right now, but most people were excited about the signing because he has played well in the past.

This upcoming draft, if Gettleman drafts a WR round 1 and O-Line round 2, are you going to assume he's comfortable with our CB situation? If he drafts a CB round 1 and a WR round 2, then is he comfortable with our o-line? I don't understand why this is such a hard concept for you...multiple holes cannot be fixed in one draft with 5 draft picks.

Gettleman has also publicly stated his philosophy of going BPA in the draft. Star was a no-brainer BPA at 14...your beloved Hopkins would have been a reach at 14. Short had a 1st-round grade by many people and was sitting there at our pick in round 2, so again he went BPA that happened to be a position of need. Looking at Allen now, you can say he would have been a good pick there, but at the time that would have arguably been a reach as well. He was coming off an injury and a poor pro day....that drops your draft stock drastically.

It's funny how you did the exact same thing with Hopkins when he had his 1 or 2 big games earlier in the season. Then we didn't hear anything out of you as Hopkins quieted down, and now you're on the Allen train. Can you do us a favor and start a Cordarelle Patterson thread next? You must have overlooked his 150-yard 1 TD performance last week....SUPERSTAR!!!

So we have 5 picks, with many holes and its logical to you to fill one hole with two picks? Instead of getting an offensive starter in round 2 you get a rotational player. He's the one that said the answer was already on the roster. Yes I believe he was comfortable with both the WR position and CB position. Remember he brought in Hixon to be the #3 and referenced Cruz alluding to his opinion that we already had a capable WR on the roster. He also talked up Josh Norman and even released Drayton Florence because he believed we were fine at the position.

Please...KK isn't even a starter he helps the team but there wouldn't be a drop off without him. And don't bring up Fua, if this staff can't find a better depth guy than fua that's its own separate issue. Keenan Allen scores tds and is a starter for his team.

People who criticize gettleman about not drafting player X even though our player Y is just as good just like to be mad about sh

am i pissed we missed out on Allen, damn right. i was wanting the guy since he was a sophomore at Cal, and even made a mock saying we was going to take him in the 1st round last january. but i will try not to say anything else about the issue because in no way he is coming here.maybe on a 2nd contract, but now it is a waste of time.

i have already begun to look at next years WR prospects and there is plenty of talent, but this statement you made is just not true. Short is not playing on the same level as Allen, and its not even close.

Oh well excuse me...if you may have heard something secondhandedly about that then I guess it's fact. I might have actually heard something on the contrary from carolina-chuck's stepdad (he watched a couple Panthers games during the 2006 season so you know he's legit). If you're gonna argue a point at least have a little conviction, no matter how stupid it is.

Do you actually engage in discussion on here or are you one of those morons who makes an outlandish statement and simply repeats it until the other guy gets bored of you? How about you address something...ANYTHING...that I just asked you? I have no idea what your silly response is even regarding...are you still addressing something I said 2 posts ago?

We must have been the only team in the league to discuss who we were going to pick prior to the draft since we made our choice almost instantaneously while most everyone else waited til 1-2 minutes were left on the clock to submit their pick. Sounds plausible!! I bet Gettleman foresaw Lotulelei's colossal slide in the draft when you may have heard secondhandedly that he wanted to pick Eifert at 14. Which is funny, cause you would think a simple Google search of Gettleman + Eifert would pull something up about him wanting Eifert to be the pick at 14. But no, you only get mentions of Gettleman "considering" Eifert at 14 before the draft occurred since Eifert being on the board for our pick was probable at the time. I bet Gettleman wouldn't have even considered picking Joeckel at 14 if he dropped, since I don't see any mention anywhere of him considering Joeckel!! We all know Star was easily a top-3 talent and it was a shock he dropped as far as he did in the draft, so when pick 14 came up and he was available, it was a no-brainer. No matter what was discussed prior to the draft, teams are constantly adjusting and re-evaluating their board after every draft pick is announced. I don't know how you think the draft works, but the Panthers' organization doesn't sit in a board room with a single index card with the name "Tyler Eifert" written on it and just sit and pray that he doesn't get taken. Unless of course your imaginary source may have told you that secondhandedly, in which case I apologize.

Again, WHY would a fresh first-time GM looking to make a good first impression ignore his own beliefs in his very first draft to go with his coach's pick? Not an established successful coach mind you, but a coach on the "hot seat" with very minimal success thus far.

Holy wall of text

Short has 51% of the snaps for defensive linemen only behind Star, Johnson and Hardy so I would have to say he is a starter. Short has 9 quarterback hits which leads all defensive tackles on the team and he is ranked 11th out of the entire NFL for hits on the quarterback.

And Keenan Allen has the 8th ranked WPA among wrs, we can throw out stats all day. There isn't a carolina panther in the top 32. And that means win probability added for those of you that say he isn't impacting the game. Hits on the quarterback don't mean poo if he gets the pass off for a completion.
