Let it go.....this is just the flavor of the day.

Same group of posters have to find something to bitch, moan, and compain about every day.  It is the only thing that gets them up in the morning and keeps them from slitting their wrists during the day.

We have been bitching about these contracts for two years now.

You would think one of them woke up this morning and had an epihany that we have two bad contracts in our RB position.

Stewart and William are great  football players, the main issue with the run game is the OL. The better run blocking Guards are injured and the OL lacks consistency due to gel time. We need to build the OL like 49rs  with top draft talent not some mediacore talent  from 5th round. Its kind of ironic that people here advocate drafting  WR & TE  > over OL then come back and moan about how mediocre the run game is and Newton is sacked 5+ times in the game. OL production will always affect the production of Skill players.

Where was stew gonna go?

It's so easy to want a player gone when they are injured.

If that actually happened, there would be no teams worth fielding.

Stew is still young, and will recover from this.

It's unfortunate at the moment, but he'll be back. And he'll still be one of the best running backs that has suited up as a Panther.

I say we Finish out D will and Stews contract.. I mean how much longer? 2 years?

Thats enough time to keep them.. we need both because one will not be stable. Draft a back in the next 2 years and then let him take the role when double trouble leave. Might as well keep them.. losing money sounds terrible when we NEED tht for other areas of the team. I beilieve they can still be productive.

Well technically he already has the signing bonus.

Yes, he has the signing bonus. What he doesn't yet have is the rest of the guaranteed money still due (think it's somewhere north of 15 million). It's the rest of the guaranteed money not yet received that I was speaking about.

That's what makes his situation much different (and worse) than DWill's.

Edit: Just checked his contract, and we have paid him about 10.5 of the original 23 million that was guaranteed. So there's "only" 12.5 million yet to be paid that is guaranteed. Note that I'm not discussing cap hit, just actual out-of-pocket money due to him that has not yet been paid. So yeah, he could pull a Jeff Otah if he wanted, sit on the couch for a couple more years and collect a cool 12.5 million. I don't think Stew is wired that way thankfully, but this contract makes DWill's, CJ's, and maybe even Beason's look sane in comparison.

Stewart cap hits:

2013 - 3,015,000

2014 - 5,496,250

2015 - 8,496,250

2016 - 9,746,250

2017 - 8,446,250

He won't be free agent until 2018. That's 4 more seasons. The earliest we see him leave in 2016 when the penatly for releasing drops to 6.1 mil. The next 2 seasons, that would penalty would be 18.1 mil and 12.6 mil.

Williams cap hits:

2013 - 5,000,000

2014 - 6,000,000

2015 - 6,333,333

He becomes a free agent in 2016 but due to his restructure we still owe him money after that.

2016 - 2,133,333

2017 - 2,133,333

We could save money on Stewart by releasing him as a June 1st cut in 2015, but it wouldn't amount to a ton. I think how he pays in 2014 will help determine if he's here for 2015.

I´d like to see a few games with Barner now. Since our backs are not that much involved I would be fine with Barner/Tolbert and a healthy Stew next year. No need for 4 RBs + Cam on the roster IMO.

I've seen enough Barner.  If he performed a spin move, he'd remind me of Everette Brown.  If a wind gust catches him right, he goes down for a loss.
