Will these last three games make Newton a bunch of money?

There are lots of reasons to do it this off season.

1). We lock him up

2). He will improve so his value may be lower than next off season

3). Waiting until next year will give Luck and Wilson an opportunity to balloon the market even more with their extensions due.

This off season we can get the extension done for likely cheaper than next year.

Correct.

Pretty simple really.

I don't think it is impossible that Cam is the party who drags his feet on a new contract. Unlikely but there are reasons he could wait for a bigger payday. He is not a big market media guy so it would have nothing to with CLT. He realizes his own potential

His agent is not an overly aggressive one though.

Cam will be the top paid qb regardless when he signs.

Maybe if we win the Super Bowl.

Otherwise that is doubtful. But Luck and Wilson both will have mega deals next off season. Especially Wilson as the Seahawks will likely have the cap.space to inflate the entire QB market.

The cap issues will be the only thing thatmay prevent us from locking him up long term this off season. I think we would rather get it done sooner rather than later.

Cam holds a bunch of cards here when it comes to the amount of Money, the Panthers need to keep him. They have to keep him and he knows that. Everyone knows that, with out him they would have won around 7 games the last three seasons.

They can give him the 5th year option and tag him twice over the 2015-2017 seasons which would pay him around 51 million and all of it would be guaranteed. Any contract he gets is going to be above the 17 million average that he can get from that.

Also on Cam's side is that he's one of the most prolific QB's in NFL history over his first 3 seasons stat wise. Were talking a QB that's got 12663 total yards and 88 total touchdowns in 45 games played. He's going to get paid and his contract is going to be massive, he's going to be a top 5 QB pay wise.

That puts his contract in the range of around 100 million dollars over 5-6 seasons with around 35-40 million guaranteed.

Random thought. There's been a lot of Cam doubters the past couple years due to The Panthers not winning. I (and others) have basically given him a free pass believing he didn't have the talent around him to win. Obviously the team has shown over the past month that they can win. I think these last three games is Cam's opportunity to show that he can be the leader and franchise QB the team needs to get to that next level. Can he rally the troops and close out the season strong? I believe he can and will. However, my question is this... If the team drops some bad games, loses winnable games, or doesn't put them in a position to be successful in the playoffs, does this impact Cam's next contract? Is the blame placed on him? Or is Cam already set as our future QB regardless of the end to this season. Here's to a 3-0 finish and a playoff run, but just wanted to get some thoughts.

If you're still doubting Cam as a franchise QB then you have something wrong with you medulla oblongata. If Cam is not a franchise QB then list us you think are then we might be able to have a better response to your crappy thread.
