RG3 Benched

Yea, pile on the guy for having a bad year. As if what's happening to him can't happen to any NFL player(Where is the Eli Manning thread?). The reality is the guy is talented and a franchise caliber QB. Hate it or love it. You guys overuse that 'can't read defense' crap too much. You probably don't even know what that means. Can't read defense or not, in his bad year he completes 60% of his passes and put up big numbers.

In case you didn't know. I said the same stuff about RG3 last year, during his rookie season.

That's well known here, for those that remember my post on the subject.

Nothings changed.

Funny but no one had a problem when the media was making it appear as if Cam was having a bad second season when he actually wasn't. The Panthers actually won one more game than Cam's Rookie season but he was labeled "being in a slump." A label that hasn't really hit any of the second season QBs like RG and Luck despite their second season stats.

Also, i find it a bit presumptious forthose in the media to give these young QBs such lofty tags as "Franchise" and "Elite" QB labels when they haven't proven themselves. Even worst is the selectiveness in which the labels are handed out. RG III and Luck automatically gets the title, Cam, Colin and Russell have to earn theirs. What are the prerequisite for such an honor as Franchised and Elite QB labels?

Evengelion, have you even bothered to see RG3's stats before Garbage Time? He was completing less than 55% of his passes, averaging 4.7 yards per pass and had more INTs than TDs. NFL.com posted an article a couple of days ago on the subject (supporting Shanahan's decision to bench him). The sad part is RG3 has a superior rushing attack and receiving core. So why is he struggling? Simple. RG3 got extremely arrogant and discarded The Pistol. As a result, his passing capabilities were exposed. He doesn't go through his progressions, possesses happy feet in the pocket, and hesitates to make tight-window passes.

I doubt they did the same to Luck's stats by removing his garbage stats. I've watched Luck stay in games this year where he's down 37-10 late in the 4th quarter and he is still out there trying to make his number look better than his 11-23 for 97 yards. And I'm not talking just one game, multiple games as they got blown out many times this year. So don't give me this minus garbage stats crap. And Luck is still not completing 60% of his passes. Fact is, RG3 is having a really crappy year and for him to keep up a 60% percentage with only 11 INTs, you have to give him prop for that.

If you think RG3 doesn't go through his progression, you should go watch Luck's game against the Texans(When Kubiak pass out). Or any other Colts game. In fact, before Wayne went out he targeted him on 66% of his passes. Yep, total progression.

Speaking of RG3 having a good receiver corps, yes he does and they're a top 10 offense in the league. Now, make an argument for the 31st ranked defense and the worst special team in the league. As for rushing attack, RG3 is part of the rushing attack as well, to the tune of 489 yards himself. Don't get it twisted, RG3 is a talented weapon in his league.

In this league when you're not winning the media and forum like this one can use every incompletion against you. And this is a perfect example of glass half empty argument you're making. With the cap penalty the last few years while other teams were able to get better in free agency the Skins stayed the same thus they imploded. That's all it was. RG3 and the Skins will be better for it. And it is apparent they did bench him to protect him because Kirk doesn't have the physical ability to play the part as a franchise QB.

The problem with comparing eli stuggling and rg3 struggling is you habe to take a look at each ones hands....and see how many rings they have.

So, 10+ year vets can revert to their rookie year and throw 25 INTs because they were in a team that fluke their way into winning 2 superbowls. I think you forgot that this is sport. The idea of sport is that you're on the field because you were given a gift of talent. This is not a commission job like real estate where sometimes you don't have a say about your performance. The skill of a player always have all the say about their performance. Eli Manning is NOT and will never be a talented player. Even in his best years he is average.

I said the same poo about RG3 last year as I have this year.  People are sitting around wondering "what happened?" and looking for excuses, but the fact is he was just flat out overrated last year.  Granted his injury may have a bit to do with him being as bad as he has - and don't bring up his stats this year to me... that poo is fool's gold if I've ever seen it.  I've watched a good bit of his games and every single one he's been pretty damn terrible until the defense calls the dogs off.

I saw the dude's rookie season.  I saw the type of offense he was running and the type of passes he was making.  The fact of the matter is RG3's rookie season couldn't hold a candle to Cam's rookie year if you were to judge each solely by the eye test and what they were each bringing to the table.  But, RG3 was the hot new flavor of he month in a big QB-starved market during a year defined by multiple good young QBs, so the media ran with it.  And he won more games than Cam so... yeah.

RG3 has a lot of talent, don't get me wrong.  But he isn't some game-changing QB as some fans and a few talking heads would've led you to believe last year and this past offseason.  He does have the potential to be one of the better QBs in the league in the coming years, but the system made RG3, RG3 didn't make the system.
