RG3 Benched

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

To a certain extent.

RG3 has truly taken a far greater fall with the media than Newton did. There is hardly any grace left.

You have not been paying attention have you? The media, led by ESPN, was all over Cam because he took a losing team like Auburn past their chosen college teams. Cam never did anything to the media. If anything, it was they who cause Cam to shut down. They were the ones who choose to turn everything he did into endless lightening rod.

And also, pay attention to who is really criticizing RG. It's not those who propped him up at ESPN or NFLN. It's the lower level sports folks. Who don't really count in the eyes of the more arrogants sport folks like those on ESPN/NFLN.

What RG3 is doing and undermining the coaches in Washington is 1000 time more damaging than asking for a suggestion box in a post game press confrence.

He gets the OJ treatment bc the Media is not satisfied with the NCAA not suspending Cam bc of his dad.

The media convicted him and view Auburn's win as tainted. So Cam has an unfair mountain to climb to get favor from the media gods. RG3 knew how to play the "oh Gosh..this is so humbling to be a QB in the NfL" which they eat up. Cam came out blasting 400 yards and doing the superman celebration which made all of them spit their hate coffee out. "he is so arrogant and he lost!!"

The media needs to punish RG3 but they will turn on the Shannahans as the scapegoat to cushion the blow.

I just look forward to the 900 press confrences RG3 will hold on the coaching search status...

Redskin fans are in for a rude awakening, asking for the Shanahan's departure (though Mike, is apparently trying to help expedite matters with this 'ahem' benching).

Say what you want about them. But it was their option based offense, that made RG3 look 10x better than what he is/was. If you bring in a new coach (unless he's a big name), you're gonna have the same situation: Snyder's committed to RG3. And in order for him to be successful, he needs to rely heavily on the run, and a high school offense, which will further increase his changes of being injured/re injured. Will that new coach, wanna run that offense, and (if so) do it successfully? And what legit coach, wants to work under Snyder (as the situation in Dallas with J. Jones)?

Last year, was a fluke for the team, and everything just fell right into place. This year, is probably closer to what they'll be, than what they were last year (and now the have no picks). Snyder would never have the guts to do what I'm about to suggest. But based off what I see, I'd be more comfortable with Cousins than RG3. Now if they trade Cousins for somebody good (or draft picks), what happens to the QB position on the Redskins, when RG3 inevitably gets hurt again?

Either way, I just don't think RG3 is a legit pocket QB in the NFL (with out getting into his Prima Donna, Selfish, Benedict Arnold Act in Washington).

And the Redskins [world] Turns?

From Sports Illustrated, by way of NFL.com:

NFL.com’s Mike Silver reported that, contrary to embattled Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan’s comments on the subject, Griffin has been shut down for performance reasons — not because of health concerns.

Hmmmmh! NFL.com Chris Wesseling, added:

Despite what Shanahan has said publicly, Silver's sources affirm that the coach switched quarterbacks for performance reasons. Shanahan didn't believe he could maintain credibility in the locker room if he continued to start a struggling Griffin. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap2000000297289/article/rgiii-extremely-angry-redskins-coaches-ready-to-be-fired

Oh Oh (though of course he may want to get fired, to collect his pay check)!!    :startle:

Just to add to the bizarre, from NFL.com's Dan Hanzus:

In other news, a Redskins player told Rapoport that Griffin and Mike Shanahan passed each other in the hallway this week without saying a word. RGIII has told teammates he believes he'll be playing for a different head coach in 2014.

Not surprisingly, NFL Media columnist Michael Silver has been told the feeling inside the Redskins' building right now is "bizarre." Mike Shanahan has not brought up the team's decision to sit Griffin with his coaching staff or players. Silver called it the "elephant in the room."

Crazy, dysfunctional bunch over there it seems? They all deserve each other, apparently.

Correction, the Cam's father tried to sell him to the highest bidder was a manufactered story. Cam's father was no differenr then Luck's father. A proud father bragging and boasting about his son. It was the MSU Alumn who was scouting Cam since his days at Blinn who offered to pay for Cam's signature to his Alumni.

The only reason why the NCAA came done with such a vague verdict was to get the media off their backs. And to be honest, just like the Wiston sex scandal, the Pay-for Play story came out, strangely, right when Cam was nominated for the Heisman Trophy and picked up steam once Bama fans realized that Auburn had a chance of winning the NC with Cam at the helm.

Also, don't understand why Cam's Superman pose, something he has been doing since Junior High School, is anymore arrogant than kissing one's biceps. The difference between RG, Luck and Colin is, Cam is proving the naysayers wrong and they are ro arrogant to admit when they are indeed wrong.

Finally, those at ESPN/NFLN, who have been propering up RG, aren't really criticizing him. They are bringing attention to those who are having issues with him and are asking if RG is being intentionally criticized and unfairly treated.

I remembered them asking a similiar question in regards to the over the top attack on Cam's character right after he was drafted. Their response was that they needed to keep up the attack on him because he was drafted # 1. Funny how that doesn't apply to Luck.

To his defense, he was picking the Giants apart in the 1st half in which he was completing 16-17 for 120 and up 14-0. Then in the second half Kyle went ape poo with the read option and they struggled. Ironically the Skins didn't run any option play when Kirk plays but can't live without it with RG3. Why can't they treat both QBs the same way in the play calling?

People can poo on RG3 all they want but despite everything the team went through he still completed 60% of his passes with over 3200 yards passing, 489 rushing and 16TD, 12INT. Those are not bench-worthy numbers(go check Eli's numbers). RG3 is a very talented guy. Hate it or love it that's a fact. I've yet to see threads about the likes of Schaub, quinn, Kolb, flynn, sanchez, cassell, etc. on here because they're the bottom of the barrel in talent.

I like how RG3 was easily benched because everything was "his fault", while for other young QBs(excluding Cam) the problem is always with the OL, WR, Defense, special team. The media and the NFL is playing a funny game that won't take them anywhere. But I do think RG3 was benched to preserve him.

RG2 has either paid off or sucked Stephen A's D cuz Smith has had a change of heart.

Yeah, not that Cam or his father would be desperate enough to talk to them, or defend themselves. But when did these tools, ever relay comments from Cam and/or is father, and then repeat them on the air?

That was just awful journalism, reeking of State Sponsored Propaganda!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

RG3 has all type of problems (can't read defenses; is fragile; meddling father; poisonous relationships with his teammates and Head Coach, etc.), and these guys wanna say they still have "hope for, and believe RG3", while they have to reluctantly mention his litany of Real issues, off and on the field. SMH/LOL

Yea, pile on the guy for having a bad year. As if what's happening to him can't happen to any NFL player(Where is the Eli Manning thread?). The reality is the guy is talented and a franchise caliber QB. Hate it or love it. You guys overuse that 'can't read defense' crap too much. You probably don't even know what that means. Can't read defense or not, in his bad year he completes 60% of his passes and put up big numbers.

Not hating on RG3, but seriously... how many of his yards and TDs came before the game was already out of hand?  I've watched a few Redskins games this year and they were all usually pretty much over midway through the 2nd quarter and RG3 struggled to complete a pass before the other team started to lighten up.  Yeah, his defense and special teams have been horrible, but the offense did the team absolutely no favors.

Cam had one of the worst defenses and special teams his rookie year (and according to various advanced statistics they were both league worst), but the difference there is he would put the team on his back and keep the game competitive, and would usually have us in a position to win in the 4th quarter before the special teams or defense would blow it.  His sophomore year was similar, but the defense went on the upswing after Luke took over (though still had a penchant to blow late leads)... and Cam did struggle a little out the gate - but still never looked as bad as RG3 consistently has this year.
