Breakdown of Seattle Defense vs Saints

Brees may have had to hold the ball longer than normal against Seattle, but he held the ball as long as he wanted to in the second quarter against us.

They still got pressure, we did not. It was also cold, rainy, windy, and loud in Seattle. It was nice and comfy in the dome.

They have Earl Thomas and Richard Shurman. We have Mike Mitchell and Melvin White.

Anything you say past that is irrelevant.

Its the blitz packages they sent not so much what the CBs did. Needless to say we came in thinking we could beat Brees in the dome with a 4 rush and not even Thomas nor Shurman could cover as long as we let Brees have.

From the article, Seattle was getting pressure with 3 or 4...and dropping dline into coverage. Brees was not comfortable.

I'm trying to watch the Panthers All-22 now...and I'm taking a break now after seeing LaFells horrible blocking. Schula playcall had the numbers to pickup decent yardage but LaFell's blocking killed it twice.

Seattle's secondary is way better than ours, however you have to attribute some of their success against Brees to them playing in their building.  The fact that that place is so loud, it prevented an offense that is predicated on timing from executing.

This is the sole reason why Brees and company are not as good out of their building.  It is the fact that their offense and Brees rely so heavily on their timing.  Brees has put together a hall of fame resume, however he hasn't figured out a way to translate that on the road.

New Orleans would beat Seattle in the Dome.  It would be a close game, but I think they would come out on top.

Let me put it this way. As good as Seattle's DBs are, you put them in the dome and take away their pass rush and Brees would have 4 TDs against their DBs too.

We could have used better performances from our DE's for sure, but I doubt that Thomas would be hanging around the back line of endzone for every TD like our FS was.
