Will We Ever Get Our Number 1 Receiver In A Draft?

I doubt it. At least I won't get sucked into the implosion unless we pass on a big, fast, potential beast with great hands that runs good routes.  We have passed on so many potential beasts at this point that it's to be expected.  I continue to say and believe that WR1 talent will definitely be available in round 2, and probably round 3.  It's all a guessing game. Everyone was on Tavon Austin's bandwagon and DeAndre Hopkins' bandwagon last year (not saying that it was not warranted), but who's to say that Keenan Allen, and, yes, Da'Rick Rogers won't end up being the better talents in the pros?  The Vikings traded up to get Cordarelle Patterson in the first, otherwise he may have lasted until the second round as well.

I have watched a little video, and I must say (again) that guys like Jaelen Strong, Brandon Coleman, and Jordan Matthews appear to have WR1 potential, and I don't believe any of them are going in the top of the first round, if the first round at all. Thats just a few. There are others.  I know that our sanctimonious FO would probably pass on him because of his history, but Chris Boyd, formerly of Vanderbilt could be available relatively late, but he looks talented as well. Benjamin and Moncrief are not necessarily first round locks either.

All that being said. If we go BPA in the first, it won't shock me.

This.

I've said over and over again that the ideal situation would be to take the BPA out of WR, CB, and OT in the first 3 rounds as long as we don't have to make a major reach to do it.  All 3 of those positions need major upgrades.

Well, this ain't good.  Mariota has already said he's returning to Oregon and now Bridgewater is considering returning to Louisville.  For every elite prospect that goes back to school, that just bumps everyone else one notch up the boards.

We should pick up that Campanero kid from Wake Forest, 4.4 speed, runs great rounds, could be a wes welker type.

Would be a great relief valve for Cam

I'm down with it, as long as he spells Smitty. In other words, if we draft correctly, then Smitty should be the full-time slot receiver.

Would be a great spell for smitty in the slot, however I wonder if Shula has the offensive mind to put smitty in the slot and recognize the value in that
