The Jets Irony

The jets ironically give up more through the air than they do the ground with a #2 rush defense. Their air defense is ranked a lowly 24th. What should be the game plan offensively?

Do we stubbornly try to grind it out on the ground? Or do we speed up the tempo to negate their dline and test out their secondary?

It isn't as if we haven't been balanced to this point, but a game where we get the passing game in sync could be used.

We tried last night for the first time in a while to pretty consistently take deep shots down the field and we just didn't have the personnel playing at the level they needed to be for it. With Byron bell unable to even stand in the way of his man and our receivers not doing much to get open, along with occasion Cam blunder when those two other facets do finally pan out (seldom) we really don't have the ability to drive down the field as much as we have in years gone by.

a game where we can get into a rhythm doing so would do well for this team-but the jets front 7 is nothing to squawk at

A good rush defense against standard rushing attack is one thing but how are they against scrambling QBs? I think Cam will be able to get the rushing game going with his legs if we struggle with our RBs...and of course that'll open up things against their pass defense. But as mentioned above, we have to control the clock and get into a rhythm offensively so the defense will have to do its job.

This is a tough game. We need to run the ball to keep them honest. I wouldn't count on Cam running wild on a Rex Ryan D. That Cam scrambling stuff works against less athletic lines. I'm not sure who is healthy for the Jets but they are talented enough to catch him. I would favor the pass but you can't become one dimensional.

The same Jets that beat the team we were just blown out by. Not to mention the lesser Ryan shut down our offense. We got his brother this week

And I am sure the Ryan brothers will have a good and long talk this week over the phone, if ya know what I mean.

Your right didn't think about that. This game will come down to if we get bad Geno or good Geno. If even average Geno shows up we could be in trouble if we aren't putting up points.

    • For the silly people that worship her it will be that.  The Coleman 'legend' thing, they did that with another fairly average player that was here and I sort of mocked or questioned the 'legend' status. Instantly caught crap for insulting someone's favorite Panther. So okay, Kurt Coleman is a Legend.
    • You allow him to compete--you all are talking as if I am proposing making him the starter. Give him a new coach, new weapons, good OL, etc. and see what happens. You are saying, "Well Damn.  It did not work for 3 guys..."  Right now, our C is injured, we lost our top 2 WRs.  Better question:  If you need a QB, Why would you not take a chance on bringing in a QB who was a former first rounder, a good arm, intelligence, mobility, youth, etc.  and see how he does out of NY--with a better OL, better running game, better receivers.  I am not saying give him a 10-year contract, I am saying give him a chance. You act like there is no improvement on offense here--it was a 2 year process, and next year is year 2.  To me, how can you sit there with Bryce and an opportunity to sign a veteran QB on the cheap comes available and you say--"Not us. We're good.  We are waiting for Patrick Mahommes."  Jone's problem is obviously mental--and he has little support.  Why is this so frigging hard to comprehend.  It is called "bottom fishing" and it is better than sitting in the boat.
    • I think we're going to fall from behind quite early and be forced to abandon the run game.  3 rushes -2 yards 1 catch -10 yards
