The hit that could end Stewarts career... you make the call...

you have to tackle guys like stew low, and at full speed the difference between a bad angle at the side of the knee and a thigh or calf hit is literally centimeters and milliseconds.

fug the saints but that's a legal hit and probably not a dirty one.

This. Some of you act like he slowed down time so he could perfectly place the hit on the knee. As if he did mathematical calculations on what angle to take. He went for the legs and got the knee. It happens.

I want to be mad at the Saints and call them dirty...  but,  going to the knee and hitting low is the new practice of the NFL these days.           Rivera hasn't gotten the memo yet.    We still seem to hit mainly high or in the chest or waist.      With maybe a handful of low hits per game.

A Specific dirty play? So, in your opinion this was a dirty play as well, but not as bad as the facemask play?

the guy clearly went low... but where is the tackle? His arms are down, he planted his helmet on Stews knee. Arms out and around his legs to trip him up while going for the hit I would understand. but this was a hit to knock him out of bounds that was directed towards his knees. If it was his thigh... I could understand that too... but it wasn't.

Now, I'm not saying it was premeditated... but, this is the Saints... and you can't rule out the idea of "dirty pool" especially with the Hit on Smitty crossing the middle, the head hunting of Ted Ginn... and that hit on Stew.

Either way... it sucks for Stew. I wish him a fast recovery.

Time to move on.

There is no doubt the defender was trying to hurt him. That is what defenses do. Punish you for stepping on the field. If it's legal they will do it. It's not ballet.

True, but there's a difference between punishing someone for daring to step on the field and taking cheap shots at their knees... although that difference seems to have been lost on the Saints.

I can see both points of view. Like I said, legal hit.

Legal? Yes. Necessary? Don't know. We aren't out there playing. These guys have to play within the letter of the rules.

Look at the hit on Gronk in the Pats Browns game. I don't think that these guys intentionally try to destroy each other.

The guy they hit this year could well be a team mate the next year. This is Rogers NFL.

I don't know about you guys but this one really hurts. Our franchise has always been devastated by terrible injuries at RB. Biakabatuka, Davis, Deshaun Foster, Goings.

I know people have been disappointed in Stewart's health and lack of actually being on the field but the guy always played his heart out on Sunday and he had the potential to be the best RB this franchise has ever had. He's a class act and it's a damn shame. You could tell he knew it was bad, you could see the disappointment on his face and he wanted to come back out show to US the fans that he could get the job done.

As much as I hate to think about it, and eye for an eye comes to mind and one day this is going to come back on those cheap shot Saints.
