Greg Olsen has not been impressive this year.

He's a top 10 TE but yes, he's soft, has no YAC potential, and is meh in blocking, but he's fast and gets open and makes good catches.  He's not the problem.  However, I WOULD like a more bruiser type TE to line up with him to get those yard 1-2 yards.

Idk, man, you cant call him soft. . . and as far as bruisers go, we already have the mutruckin Tugboat.

I could sneeze in his presence and it would cause Olsen to fall

LoL, thats some funny poo, nah man he just doesnt accelerate fast enough away from people when he's changing directions or speed. If he catches in space, watch what he does when there's a safety in his way. He mows through fools. He just cant cut like Cam does.

Shockeys touches went to him. We went from running two te sets to single te sets with tolbert taking on the receptions

Did you lol because that concept confuses you?

Are you being sarcastic, or do you really consider a running back/fullback to be a valid replacement to a legit tight end?

Tolbert is a hell of a runner, but we're talking receiving here. It's not even a comparison man...

I'm not being sarcastic. Tolbert was basically Shockeys replacement

I know that was the talk at the time, but it's ludicrous.

We can put Tolbert in there, and say he is the replacement, but production says otherwise.

Tolbert's receiving numbers:

2012: 27 receptions, 268 yards, 9.9 avg, 0 TD's

2013: 21 receptions, 162 yards, 7.7 avg, 2 TD's

Shockey's receiving numbers:

2011: 37 receptions, 455 yards, 12.3 avg, 4 TD's

We need another legitimate tight end. That's all there is to it.

1. Dude has been playing through a foot injury almost the entire season.

2. Stats from one year to the next are consistent.

Without a significant threat at the #2 or #3 WR spot, opposing defenses are simply putting a nickle DB or a safety on him. If there was any other receivers on the Panthers requiring something more than cursory attention, opposing D's might think about putting a LB on him, where he might stand a chance of gaining separation.

The bottom line is this:

#6 TE in the league (receptions)

#7 TE in the league (yards)

#9 TE in the league (TDs)

#5 TE in the league (getting 1st downs)

#4 TE in the league (catches for 20+ yards).
