At one point last night, Chris Collinsworth was running through our DBs by name and saying where they came from: Florence was cut then resigned, White and UDFA, Lester an UDFA, Mikell was a cut then FA, Mitchell never lived up to his #2 draft pick in Oakland and was let go - then we get to Munnerlyn - "probably the best of the group, but he was a 7th round draft pick." - ooof!

 

it just hit me like a ton of bricks - WOW, our DBs are put together like swiss cheese and have been playing lights out until last night. if you told me we'd be 9-4 with THAT backfield i would take it in a heart beat..

 

 

 

 

but then i had been thinking for the past few weeks, especially when Mike Wallace was torching us:

"Man, How much better would our D be if we actually still had Gamble?"

Not to change the subject, but Collinsworth also brought up Cam's towel. Weird that there was no mention of it in 8 weeks...

Our Secondary has had the benefit of a productive pass rush for most of the year.    When they have not gotten that ehhhh it scares me.

Colvin from Oklahoma is a solid, solid, corner.  I'm a big OU fan (go to school online there).  Hes a good tackler too.

Well yeah our whole defensive game plan is predicated on the front seven getting pressure on the QB.  That pressure would mask the deficiencies in the secondary. 

 

 

The Panthers have been stellar at masking their weakspots during the 8 game win streak. It was only a matter of time before they got exposed.  Better now than in January.

I didn't take it as a jab at Cam.

 

The comment was something like: "Cam Newton..you want to defend him?  He's on the sideline with a towel on his head".  All I took from that was if you don't want Cam to beat you keep him on the sideline...just referencing the fact that he wears a towel on his head when he's on the sideline.

 

Plenty of reasons for Collinsworth to eat an entire bag of dicks but I think this particular statement was misread by a lot of us.

Oh ok. Thanks for bringing in another perspective of that comment.  I could have heard it wrong. I was at someone's house watching the game and they wouldn't keep quiet so I could really hear the commentating.
