Double dip

OL has been the bright spot? man i think you need to say away from the grass for a bit. haha

It hasn't? You need to go back and watch more games. Our OL have been terrible in two games only this season (Bills and Cardinals). Last night game had nothing to do with the OL. Cam was running trying to make a play due to the lack of separation from the receivers.

Our Oline deserves props for playing above what any reasonable expectations might have been given the caliber of talent and patchwork, revolving door nature of the Oline. But keeping Cam clean is not the only requirement of the big boys on either side of Kalil. The stagnant run game we've seen this year is in large part dude to the Oline not being able to open lanes for the RBs to run through. We need an upgrade there, just as we did on the Dline last year. Yes, we also need WRs and some upgrades in the secondary, but we can't forget to beef up that offensive front if we want to see our running and passing attacks begin to flourish like we all want.

What is more of a need? Imo, it's receiver and corner. Protecting Cam is huge but we will have Amini, Scott, and Kug back next season. If we can bring back Wharton it would be huge. We're not great but at least it's solid. It's terrible looking at our receiving corp and at corners. The fault goes to Gmagic.

Not the OL fault!?? My god what game where you watching?

The game where no damn receivers could get open. Some of y'all fans just don't get it. Y'all watch the game and see Cam get sack and y'all like "wtf OL!". Y'all don't see that Cam had enough time in the pocket last night but no damn receivers were able to get separation. It's a game where eleven men play, not just the OL.

Let's see what we have when Silatolu and Kugbila return from injury... could bring Gross back on a 1 year deal and move Chandler to RT.

I'm not opposed to drafting one or more OL's with a high pick this coming offseason, but I'm not sure we have a need that warrants a double-dip when that unit is healthy.

WR is more of a need than OL right now and that is especially true when you consider where we will pick.....we will have a much better pick for drafting WR than an OT.

The best Ts will be gone and it is a deep class for the positions we need, which is great news considering.

This! it was even clearly highlighted multiple times on the tv broadcast. 2 of Cam's sacks they showed the replay followed by replay of every Carolina WR and TE on the field talking about about none of the guys getting separation. It's been highlighted every other game Miami Cam looked to be sacked I left to get a drink come back up he's still scrambling around looking down field trying to direct olson and eventually throws it away as he is hit.

Our #2 WR was the 6th in receptions on the team Cam's rookie year, our #3 WAC cut by 2 teams and not touched because "he's nothing more than a ST player". Go out and sign every all-pro OL for Cam its still not going to do any good when there is no one to get the ball to. Even the worst D will get to you sometime.

Yup! We can have the best offensive linemen on this team and Cam will still struggle to find open receivers.

The commentator said it best last night after the sack which came from Gross. Paraphrasing him, he said "tomorrow Gross will be credited with giving up that sack, but it was due to Cam trying to run and didnt step up in pocket to make the throw".

Our OL have had only two games this season which it was clearly their fault (Bills/Cardinals). Last night game was a sure example of having a lack of receivers. Some fans just dont get it.

Keep in mind there is Free Agency. I know were still in cap hell, but Gettleman blew my doors off as to how well he managed our cap and roster. He could be in for another successful off season.

Our defense is at least a Top Five with literally no one of significance in the secondary. Imagine when we get some actual talent back there. That can be said for all of the other holes we have. We won 8 games in a row with glaring holes in at least 3 different positions. It really does make the future bright. It truly takes time to get rid of bad contacts and form a roster the way Gettleman would want it.

That said, I believe we have a guy in the head office that can do a lot with little, and a defensive coach that can do a lot with little. That's a good combo if you ask me. As an example, Mike Mitchell. The dude was considered a scrub coming in. Hey! he turned out to be pretty decent! May or may not be the long term answer, but we don't need Top 5 picks and 30 mil in cap space to build a team.

I honestly forgot Amini was alive.

As long as he comes back, and to form, I'm fine with only going with an OT. Hurst out of Carolina in the 2nd maybe? Grab the best skill guy in the 1st in that scenario. Bring back Gross, have Amini, Kalil, Wharton/Kugzilla/FA, Hurst and roll with that.
