Our offense style / scheme is not gonna cut it

Running was fine today (about 4.5 ypc from our backs, Cam put it closer to 6 ypc overall)

But did we use that to our advantage? I don't remember any play action passes (granted O Line probably prevented that)

Did we spread the field and hit them with a draw?

Did we sell the run at all to open up passing lanes?

Nope. we ran, threw deep, threw short, punted

Don't forget, roll outs, bootlegs, misdirection, and mixing up the depth of the throws.

The Panthers offense was just too predictable most of the games. And the Panthers Receivers, seemingly can't catch anything deep on a fly. This is of course, to cover up for the awful offensive line last night.

As a big X&O junkie I agree the philosophy/scheme should be changed but the fact is we can't operate an up-tempo attacking offense with our personnel. Smitty is no longer what he used to be, LaFell is way too inconsistent, Ginn is very limited in his ability and Olsen is essentially a big WR lining up in the middle with average blocking ability (although he's improved) . This along with an average O-Line has limited Shula and to be honest I think Shula has been great during our 8 game winning streak and controlling the clock has been exactly what we've needed to do, especially with how well our defense has played. Heading into playoffs, we've got to be able to run better and we've got to use Cam more in running game to make our offense more dangerous, especially since we'll be on the road.

This season has been about the D shutting teams down. We didnt rarely needed to match anyone score for score.

I am not confident in our teams ability to go score for score with the likes of Brees, Brady, Manning, and Rodgers.

I think we match up much better with teams like SEA and SF.

As I said to begin with there is no reason we can not have an elite O as well as an elite D.

Footballl is about matchups.... Impossible I. This era to build a team that matches up ideally with everyone.

We can hang fairly well with anyone when we have a good day. NO is a tough matchup in the dome when your redzone offense doesn't show up and you don't get to Brees.

Do the Saints have an elite O.....yes....but only in certain conditions.

We don't need overreact. People overreacted to the Sea/NO game which was also silly. Sea isn't unbeatable and the Saints didn't suddenly suck.

What we do works..... Doesn't mean we won't have hiccups.

And yes, I would like a better OL and WRs so we could do MORE on O. Nothing we can do about it until the offseason

1. Our O-line needs major upgrades

2. We played them in the Superdome, it will be a different outcome in Charlotte.

3. You want Kevin Sumlin as a head coach? Give me a break. He has Manziel at QB and a pretty good offensive line to keep those backyard plays alive. He's been a head coach at A&M for 2 years with NO prior NFL coaching experience at any position.

So when we put up points against everyone else were you thinking our offensive scheme sucks?

Our offensive approach cut it just fine for 9 wins, including 8 in a row - just didn't execute it last night - this was truly a team loss.

I don't care what your offensive approach is, very few teams can recover from allowing 21 pts to be scored on the road against a good team.

I agree we should be having way bigger offense numbers.. but in a way I don't think we have the weapons to trust that. We get Cam to go pass oriented w our WR he will throw a INT and everyone will be like WHY DIDNT WE RUN THE BALL?!.. theres no win w the fans but... the GM has to KEEP getting better talent to compete on the practice field

We haven't lost the capacity to score quickly and we have the players to do that.  Look at how many times this year we have been effective in the 2 minute offense, have driven down in the fourth quarter for a score or otherwise shown we can score quickly when we need to.  We choose to control the clock and move the ball methodically because it helps the defense and keeps opposing offenses off the field.  Just because we don't do it all the time doesn't mean we can't.  People here take one game and blow it way out of proportion.  Just like New Orleans didn't go bananas when they lost at Seattle we don't need to go ballistic because we lost last night.

This kind of knee jerk reaction is ridiculous.
