Our offense style / scheme is not gonna cut it

I have never got the whole "we need to be a time control / conservative / establish the run" offense.

That is only good for inferior teams HOPING to keep the game close.

We should WANT to be an explosive high scoring offense. Plain and fugging simple.

No reason why we cant march down the field quickly and score a TD. Then kick off and get a 3 n out and go score again. Rinse and repeat. Fug this notion it will tire our D or any other excuse to why we should be conservative on offense.

The offense ALWAYS have the upper hand, so when we face QBs like Manning, Brees, Brady, Rodgers they will shred our D. Their is always an answer for what ever the D is doing. Getting pressure ok quick 3 step routes. Playing man ok comebacks, drags/crosses, slants etc. Playing zone ok we will flood and/or find the holes. Light box ok we will run. Load the box ok we will pass. Play inside technique ok out routes. Play outside technique ok inside slants. Bring the safeties down ok over the top. I could go on and on. No matter how good your D is you will not be able to stop elite QBs and OCs every night. You must be able to match them score for score. IE We need to be AVERAGING 28+ ppg.

We have faced 2 elite QBs this year and both of them SHREDDED our D. Brady marched right down the field on literally every possession. Only reason we won was because the refs picked up a very obvious flag at the end.. Not to mention getting help from the refs late.

In todays NFL Cam should be averaging 300+ pass yards per game. With the RBs getting about 100+ yards a game.

If your QB is averaging 200 pass yards a game you better be averaging 200-300 yards rushing a game.

Fixed it for you.

Fug excuses.

Again, 9-4 is 9-4.

You are arguing for the offense we had when losing in 2011 and 2012.

We are playing a team concept in 2013.....and it works. One bad quarter doesn't mean you scrap what clearly has worked

Our O is at BEST average. That is not good enough. We need to be elite on both sides of the ball and you WILL never be an elite O playing some ball control conservative style scheme.

Dont be surprised every year when we get shredded by the elite QBs WITH our elite D and end up losing due to not being able to keep pace.

We need to bring in a guy who is proven to be a offensive guru. Shula aint gonna cut it.

BS. We had an explosive O in 2011.

We are a ball control offense.

That is for scared pussies.

The play calling is conservative.

I'm afraid he's right.

We don't have the linemen to sustain blocks while long downfield routes develop.

All our receivers not named Smith have a tendency drop passes at bad times, and the one who is named Smith was largely handled going one on one with a safety tonight.

Running backs? Oy.

And as for playcalling, you want Chudzinski back? None of the players do, and we've already won more games this season without him than we did any season with him.

Playcalling isn't going to change the O.....we have issues that require the offseason to fix.

Go back to big play offense with this O and WR corp and we go back to losing......bc we won't be playing to our D.

We got shredded tonight in one quarter bc we have one of the weaker secondaries in all the NFL......that we hide. Get an average to good secondary to pair with our front and elite QBs won't shred us

it's a pretty good style/scheme, but it has its weaknesses, which the saints exposed tonight. the fact is we're not adopting it by choice, it's a way of masking deficiencies at offensive line and WR.

next season gettleman will shore up the offensive line, find a dominant receiving weapon, and plug up that secondary, and suddenly you'll see our scheme change.

Playcalling will and can change our O.

Cam was having zero time yet we still didnt go to the quick 3 step passing routes.

Brady shredded our secondary as well.

Any elite QB will do that. Its why they are elite.

Id rather lose TRYING to play the right way than lose playing some scared pussified ball control offense.

Get him a line and legit #1 WR if you want him airing it out all game.....

I didn't say he had to do it every time. But did anyone here really think we we're going to play this game our way the whole time and keep it a 17-24 game?

Get real. I don't care that we don't have a premier #1 anymore. LaFell is a WR in the NFL, send his ass down field.  We knew our o-line couldn't run block for poo and we still decided to waste 1st down on running plays.

We have to be better prepared to play catch up. We are not always going to lead into the 2nd half and eat the clock each drive.  I think Cam was scared to throw pics tonight. He was way off on a couple throws. I know we need another weapon on offense. Everyone does, but it's like we didn't even try.

I agree with what you've said with one major exception.... smart conservative football doesnt win games against teams built for shootouts like the 2013 Saints. not saying we arent built to play elite football against elite teams and win marquee games. we are. but you're missing the point of the OP. the gameplan was way too conservative for the type of game we needed to play tonight. play conservative against the 2013 Bucs, you'll win every time. play conservative against the 2013 Saints, you'll win 1 out of every 10 times. simple as that.
