Same problem areas

if we get any cb in FA or anyone they need to be solid players......they don't have to be all pros, regardless of munnerlyns play he is solid at the nickel add 1 or 2 solid cb's and the dfense will be good to go, also add a olb.

as far on offense we need to add the best tackle we can afford, add a solid wr in FA and Draft a beast in the draft.

You might be a lonely man defending that point, Tee.

Probably. But my stance has been that we have no elite WRs right now, but none that really suck either. They are all just solid receivers.

We need to address it soon. I agree with that. But O line and CB are weaknesses. WR simply isn't a strength. If that makes sense.

IMHO... OL is an issue but not our biggest issue. same with WR.

our secondary should be our focus. cant win big games regularly if we cant contest elite QB's, no matter what our offense is doing. we need CB's & S's that can challenge. i like Lester and White but we need to cut the rest and bring in new talent/fresh blood.

next most important would be OL. first we need to consider that we already have Kugbila and Silatolu. if they can stay healthy, i think our OL wont need as much work as we think. if Cam had more time, im sure our OC would let him use his legs more. and receivers would benefit because they would have some time to get separation. not only that, but our deep throw potential would immediately skyrocket. Cam would have time to zero in on his streaking receiver instead of rushing to make the throw and putting too much power into it. Cam is maturing into a beast. give him a quality OL and he'll be a top 5 QB next year. oh and its imperative that we choose carefully and find O-linemen that can BOTH run block and pass block efficiently. or have depth at both specialties.

receiving corp should be the last thing we deal with. the talent is already there IMO. for some reason, the coaching staff cant coach our receivers on how to hang on to the fuggin ball. solve that problem and bring in a few new talents to increase the competition. that, along with the benefits of an improved OL, should make our receiving corp a threat next season.

all this is great. but if we cant find legit, consistent talent ON THE CHEAP... it wont matter. hopefully DG will take care of that as he has done so far. something else to consider, and i welcome input on this... what about a quality backup for Cam? i'm thinking someone like Connor Shaw or Marcus Mariotta. some accurate QB that is a threat to run as well. a game-manager in case Cam goes down... what says the Huddle about a backup for Cam?

He is listed as the starting LCB on the team's website. Of course they move him around depending on the matchup. He was the one that got burned by Mike Wallace twice on the outside against Miami. The main thing is that there needs to be an upgrade at the CB position. With the production and snaps that Munnerlyn is getting, I doubt his contract gets renewed.

LOL mike Wallace was in the slot when capt was lined up with him. Florance,White and Munnerlyn in the nickle. Anyone that watches games knows this.

Gettleman has this team on a 3 year plan for a turn around. Just so happens they are doing well in his first year.

You could never address all of this team's issues in one offseason, not with the cap Hurney left him.

I find it remarkable Gettleman was able to do this well with very little to work with. All of you expecting us to bring in key players at every position in one offseason aren't being very reasonable.

Sit back, relax, and be happy we still very much care about our remaining games in mid December... go look at the Falcons board if you need a reminder of how much a extra month long extended offseason sucks.

^^^This, teams are just lining up their best receiver in the slot and attacking Capt.or Kuechly in zone

Don't know about most of you....but I'm pretty fu#$in confident that we wont have these same areas of concern going forward next year....We will def get better in the secondary and Gettleman will def get us receiver help....he doesn't have any attachment to the players on the current roster

WR is a Huge weakness. OL is in better shape than the WR group. Gross still playing solid and will probably be back since we're a Super Bowl contender. Center we have one of the best in the league. Guards our projected starters (both first and 2nd year in the league) the 3rd+ stringers in there now pumping out (see 4 yrds a carry vs Nola), RT is the big weakness but Bell is like Fua at DT (shouldn't be hard to find someone better than him). Over a 3rd of the league would trade their OL for ours right now. If we had another WR target outside Smith and Olson you would hardly hear much about our OL claiming it'd be 4th or 5th in needs

Now WR hands down is #1 need. Smith ain't getting younger. It's becoming easier to to shut him down with a double team. LaFell is getting worse, the one thing that was keeping his stock up here was his blocking and that's dropping.

Right now our group is an ageing Smith who needs to be moved to the slot here shortly, Lafail (in Cam's best year he was 6th on the team in rec), and Ginn (who most of the league wouldn't touch because he was no better than a return specialist). This makes it to easy for teams to stack the box for the run. And these are with injury Free this year, they could be hit like the OL and we could be starting Armanti and Adams right now.

we can fix all of those in one offseason.

Perhaps, but doing so would involve a significant degree of luck as well as front office skill.  We would have to hit on most of our draft picks as well as our free agent signings.

IMO, Gettleman sees this as a process.  Last year was fix the defensive line.  This upcoming offseason, we might be able to address a couple of areas.  From what he has said in the past about hog mollies or whatever he calls it, I imagine the oline will get a lot of attention.  The receiving corps could honestly be fixed with one good signing or draft pick.  The secondary will be a little more difficult, unless we have some extra cash to spend (aside from what we are going to spend on Hardy, Newton, etc...)
