Rivera and Mcdermott had a great gameplan for Brees last season..with the defense significantly better than last season I cannot wait to see what they will come up with . Rivera was able to slow down Brady and Manning when they would meet the SD Chargers.

He made Brees uncomfortable last season i just think Star And Kawann are the keys bc CJ and Hardy always gets great pressure against the Saints.

No step up in the pocket and it s a long day.

for some reason of all the games this season this one seems the most simple to gameplan.........you don't have to shutdown brees but we do have to force a couple of punts, limited them to field goals as much as possibly as well. The key is on offense IMO, there defense sucks, we need to score td's on them every good chance we get, meanwhile why our d limits brees which will eventually result in a big play from our d.

Safeties just have to be disciplined by staying over the top. I imagine were going to be running alot of 2 deep, with kuech on jimmothy, kinda like a tampa 2. We CANNOT let those receivers behind us because they will burn us, we have to be physical with them off of the line and re route them.

I agree, they need to stay focused and not become frustrated at the dink and dunk. I'm confident that the longer a drive goes the more likely we are to force a turnover. Mitchell and Mikell need to understand what Brees is trying to open up and just let the guys in front of them get after it.

I will go with the O-line.  Aside from Cam scrambling and Tolbert running over people from time to time the running game has been very weak of late.  We will need to keep the ball out of Brees' hands to win and that means a solid running attack.  They also must protect Cam, of course that goes without saying.

Listening to 'that other' sports radio 99.9 here in Raleigh and the guy asked the question "what is the single position that needs to step up for Saints game"

For me it's the DB...or as Gruden said "The Legion of Whom"....guys no one heard of.

Our DB's were suspect at the beginning of the year, then we lost Gamble.  Amazingly (?) we have done better than OK with some INT.   We have also gotten burned on the deep ball...(Wallace, Vjax).

Thoughts:

We beat Brady by getting pressure with our front 4.

Patriots doesn't have the WR that NO does.  We locked up Gronk we need to lock up Graham.

Seaturds have elite DB, they shut down Brees.

We have elite LB...going to have to beat NO thru our defense but counting on pressure and sacks instead of coverage.

What position or position group do you feel is the #1 most important piece of the puzzle Sunday night?

D-Line & O-Line

1. Stop the run

2. Pressure the QB

3. Run the ball.

:rr:

That actually is statistically untrue. I rememver reading something on here that he does better or about the same. Dont know the numbers though

It actually isn't. He has a 3-4 td/interception ratio against 3-4 defenses this year. 16tds and 7 interceptions against everyone else.
