The last 7 games, comparing the Saints and Panthers

That means nothing. Has he played the panthers in those 10 games? No? Shut up

Get outta here with that Homer crap.  Its gonna be a damn tough match up.  I think the Panthers will pull it out, but there is a good reason why most pick them to win.

Thursday night game on the road vs a divisional opponent. Funky stuff can happen

Sunday night game on the road vs divisional opponent... hopefully funky stuff happens again. cant stand the saints but Carolina still needs all the help they can get to go into that house and beat the saints in their place.

To me its not as much about who the experts are picking, its the way some use selective stats to "prove" why some feel that the Panthers are not as good as there record indicates. And give us no shot at N.O. in the dome. On several occassions this week I've seen analyst bring up that the saints are undefeated at home, that's great, but that is really only relevant stat if they hand already played and beat the Panthers in the dome. Truth is that the only comparable opponent they have faced at home is SF and barely escaped with a W.

I posted this on the Joyner ESPN insider thread where he called the Panthers a "paper tiger" in part because of our weak schedule, while totally ignoring the fact that N.O. has played just as many sub .500 teams as the Panthers, we've both played 7 sub .500 teams thus far(many of the same opp)panthers scored 208 pts in those games, and given up a total of 78. The Saints in comparison have scored a combined 152 and given up 120. Using Joyners logic, who could be considered the paper tiger? If he wants to bring up our weak schedule, he needs to put it in perspective and include the fact that we have scalded the weak teams we faced. He can't say the same about the Saints.

and that's one of the things that tell me the saints aren't the team of 09-11, where they got most of their points by demolishing bad teams.  they are barely escaping games they used to blow teams out in.  momentum is a huge factor in football and only a couple teams have it like we do right now.

Since the Saints started 5-0:

Saints:

Loss to the Patriots on the road (30-27)

Win vs. Buffalo at home (35-17)

Loss to the Jets on the road (26-20) (lol)

Win vs. Dallas at home (49-17)

Win vs. San Francisco at home (23-20) (ridiculous Ahmad Brooks penalty game)

Win vs. Atlanta on the road (17-13) (This game came down to late 4th quarter; Falcons one of the worst teams in league)

Loss to the Seahawks on the road (34-7)

Panthers:

Win vs. St. Louis at home (30-15)

Win vs. Tampa Bay on the road (31-13)

Win vs. Atlanta at home (34-10)

Win vs. San Francisco on the road (10-9)

Win vs. New England at home (24-20)

Win vs. Miami on the road (20-16)

Win vs. Tampa Bay at home (27-6)

Saints: 4-3

Panthers: 7-0

Saints points scored for/against margin: 178-157 (Saints +21, 3.0 per game)

Panthers scored for/against margin: 176-89 (Panthers +87, 12.4 per game)

Look at this very closely. Do the Saints look worthy of being nearly unanimously picked to win Sunday night by people that aren't Panthers fans?

Look at their stats above in the dome.... You question is answered.

They are an ok team on the road and a very good team in the dome.

You can throw statistics out of the window.  It's an NFC South battle.  The Saints are almost unbeatable in a dome regardless if it's at home or not.  This will be tough.  Luckily, our defense travels well.  Key to the game will be ToP, IMO.  Stop them on defense, and on offense, try to average 2-3 first downs on each drive.  Hopefully the D comes up with a turnover, and Cam plays mistake free.
