Kubiak fired as Texans HC - Should we be worried?

Bottom line is that Rivera knows defense, watch his sound FX and tell me that isn't his defense. Yeah, Mcdermot makes the calls, but that is Rivera's defense. He is a defensive coach.

i didnt say it wasnt Ron's defense but no one should act like losing McDermmott is just a ho-hum easy to fill position, he makes the calls during the game and that is as important if not more because he has to make adjustments as well.  Ron during the game has too many things to worry about other than the defensive play calling.

If I were McNair, I would have fired Rick Smith right along with Kubiak.

Wade was the one who wanted JJWatt. The GM/Scouting dept for the Texans is not good at all. And because their division is crap, they have a chance to get relevant again.

Note: Kubiak hired Rick Smith.

Arian is on the downside of his career. Kubiak ran him into the ground.

Tate will be gone. Texans don't have $$ to sign him.

Cutting Schaub (June 1st) will be a huge cap hit.

JJ Watt will get a new contract (unless he's seen how A.Johnson has wasted a possible HOF career on this team) and wants to go to a contender. And Watt will ask to be the highest paid defensive player in the NFL.

Cushing is like Dan Morgan. Season ending injuries aren't his fault, but they keep happening.

Jonathon Joseph will be cut, he has a huge CAP figure next year.

They need starters next year on DL, OLB, RG, RT, CB who currently are NOT on the roster. Those are bare minimum. And don't forget they cut their 3rd rounder LB this year for smoking "cigars", cut their 6th rounder (who is doing well in NE), and they still have crap receivers after Johnson and Hopkins.

Rick Smith basically has done a Hurney and overpaid vets for decent performance and can't draft outside the 1st round.

They aren't a just new HC/QB away.

My top guesses:

Lovie

Zimmer

Shaw

not totally and McDerm is making the calls during the game. if we lost him, it would be a blow, not something to just brush off.

This defense wasn't looking so stellar until Rivera stated he would be more hands on. Rivera has had a #1 defense everywhere he's been. So excuse me for believing that Sean is just the manager of Rivera's defense. I don't expect a drop off if he left.

you're excused, i guess only the offensive coordinator really matters then.

Do I have to link this all the time?

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Linebacker Thomas Davis was explaining how he got two sacks in Sunday's 35-10 victory over the Minnesota Vikings, giving all the credit to Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Sean McDermott for putting him in the right position.

"You don't have to say that because I'm standing here," shouted McDermott, about 15 feet away.

Thomas continued to wax eloquent on the 39-year-old coach as he dressed in the visitors locker room at the Minneapolis Metrodome.

"He's a defensive guru," he said.

"I heard that," McDermott said. "You don't have to say that, man."

Davis turned to his coach and replied, "Listen to me. I'm not saying this because you're right there."

He meant it. And if you ask anyone else on the NFL's third-ranked defense, he will give credit to McDermott and his staff as well.

"A beast," end Greg Hardy said when asked to describe McDermott.

Gary Kubiak became the first HC to be fired this year and according to Schefter:

So let's get the ball rolling now the heads have done the same, do you think one of our coordinators, i'm thinking McDermott especially could be poached by an orginzation as HC like Chud was last year? and do you feel like they deserve it?

The Cam factor. Where coordinators don't stay more than 2 years.
