Sterling Sharpe just told the fu¢king truth on Playbook about Cam. He said Cam was mature coming out and the only thing wrong with his game was that he had very little help. So glad someone stepped up and said it.

The race hate will go away for Cam when he keeps winning. In America no color matters more than success. It's really kind of sad that many people can't appreciate him for how well he has done out of the gate.

They'll come around, though.

Btw I'm a 33 year old white guy who thinks Cam is the coolest thing since the mobile home :-)

I don't think he's maturing as much as they are having their original ignorant assumptions proven wrong. He has matured, but he was never as immature as they said.

You're right. Cam was never immature. 

 

He came in BOA early; left late. He was always respectful to his teammates, coaches and the media--both in person (from what we hear, know, suspect), and during his pressers. He always wanted to be great. He worked real hard after his National Championship winning season to improve his mechanics, decision making, and reads (i.e., didn't rest on his laurels or Cash in before taking care of what's important), and never got in trouble on or off the field--from day one.

 

Rivera, always said 'he was raised right". So Cameron Jerrell Newton, was always focused and mature. 

 

So what, he mentioned a "suggestion box" during a press conference, and likes to have fun on the field? Is that means to crucify him? Cam was always serious about his work, no matter how much fun he appeared to have. 

 

What Cam HAS DONE, is show the natural progression you expect from a young QB. He's grown, as a player, a leader, and as a man. But that shouldn't be surprising. That's what we would expect of any player in his position on a certain trajectory, and we're glad it's happening. 

 

But to say "he's maturing", would be to insinuate he was Immature in the first place, and (looking at the evidence, especially compared to so many others), that's just not true, and/or warranted!!!!!!!

I think because he clearly has fun out there and looks like the typical high school jock to some people they concoct their own weird conclusions on his character. And if you know him through mostly ESPN you've seen more mopey faced press conferences than charity work with children.

 

We'll be hearing about his "maturity" and "fundamentals" until a Super Bowl win and maybe still after.

 

Is it not the coolest thing to see him running with a grin on his face.   Football is a game played by superior athletes.  They put many hours in conditioning their bodies and minds into being the best they can be.  Why can't they smile.   I love watch Cam perform and he is an amazing athlete. 

 

I was at the Tampa game his rookie season where he had that epic 50+ yd run.  He is a great player and I enjoy watch the first down points, the smiling and the Superman poses.

 

Other fans from other teams don't like.  Who cares.  WE LOVE IT

Same thing people would say about Joe Frazier and Muhammad Ali.

But for some reason white people loved Frazier and hated Ali.

It isn't always about skin tone per se, but rather what an individual represents as it relates to race.

Another example; Joe Namath was cool but Cam is brash and a me first guy.

In other words, at the risk of getting in trouble with the mods, it is okay that you are not white as long as you are humble and know your place.

The only maturation Cam ever needed was as a leader of a team of men.  He is basically a 22-24 year old young man/kid leading older, grown ass men from his rookie year until now.  It has to be awkward and no kid who is thrust into a leadership role is going to suddenly develop the leadership skills of a general or commander in chief without being battle tested.  Respect is earned, not a token expectation in the work place.  He experienced many highs and lows in college, came into the NFL with some enormous expectations and is immensely gifted as an athlete.  Haters will continue to hate because he is exquisitely gifted as an athlete and is clearly genetically/physically blessed.  He is childish and playful in some ways but I think is refreshing, fun and great to see because he LOVES the game.  He is brings so much excitement on the field.  It is actually funny and ironic that the media, specifically ESPN, is so unwilling to acknowledge they are wrong about him.  I honestly do not care.  I am a CAM HOMER and fug the media.  I am thrilled he is our QB.

I'm too young to remember. Did the media/fans hate Deion Sanders when he was dancing and wearing doo rags? As a child I loved Deion and I bet Cam did to. You see the same showmanship. The same child like excitement. Some people are in a box and anything outside the box irritates them to no end.

Kendrick I am old enough to remember. The media hated Deion and thought he was a show boat and uppity. Even though most folks with intelligence understood that the whole neon Deion thing was a ploy to market himself.
