Kickoff Returns...

Id rather have someone who can make plays returning instead of a safe kneel down every time.. we can't always drive the ball downfield. and if we get the ball first we go 3 and out at the 20.

This is football. have someone back there who can make a play.. getting it to the 40 is a huge difference than a 20. or a TD twice a year can turn a loss into a Win

Ginn is looking at the holes and chooses them as they look when hes full speed, if he kept his eyes moving laterally, he wouldnt be near full speed so its just one of those things that have to line up right for him to see.. Just trust him, when he sees a hole, and it pans out, hes gone.

Couldn't agree more.

I understand people having injury concerns with Ginn but there is no reason to question his skill at the return game.

Ginn has the skillset for KR, but he's just not getting it done there.  If you bring it out, you have to know you're going to make it past the 20 and he doesn't always do that.  I like the potential of busting it out to the 40 but not at the expense of starting at the 17 four times to get there.

He's averaging 22.4 ypr. I'm just not recalling him chronically falling short of the 20. That average would go way up with just one long return. I really don't get this criticism, especially now.

Its not necessarily and indictment of him.

Its more of.... if he isn't a game changer as a KR, then why risk injury for him there.  Why not let him focus on WR and punts?

If Barner is active, let him have the chances.

Barner was seemed to be good at it in preseason and college.

Really?  I would.  Not a big difference between starting at the 17 and starting at the 20.  There is a big difference between starting at the 40 compared to the 20.

I just don't trust Barner with the football right now and I don't think the staff does either.  He's been inactive a bunch and even when he's been active, he's only gotten touches after the game has been decided.

I think they like his potential, they just don't trust him right now.  Hopefully we see a big jump between his rookie year and second year.

there's a difference between risking a fumble to get to the 17 and kneeling to get to the 20.   If it's 3 yards, it's still 3 yards that could've been a better decision. Don't bring it out unless you know you can get to the 20 or better.

Fair enough.

If there is a much higher concern with Barner fumbling than Ginn then I can understand it.

I just don't feel Ginn is much better with ball security than anyone else.  But, then again, I am not at practice everyday.

It was just a thought I had.
