If a professional team lost a game due to what the fans were thinking on a message board than I am at a lost for words on the psychological state of that team, there is a good chance they would not 9-3

Same thing goes for crowd noise. Seattle fans diminish their team's accomplishments every time they start going about how nobody can beat the 12th man.

The Panthers have been to three conference championship games? The Seahawks have been to two conference championship games. The NFCCG after the 2005 season, and the AFCCG after the 1983 season. Not that I think it's relevant to anything happening this year.

I do find it a little funny though, that when considering a possible playoff game this season in Seattle, you would reflect back on something that happened in 2003 in St Louis, while ignoring the 2005 @$$-whooping you got at the NFCCG you played in Seattle. I would think the more recent game in the actual city itself would be more relevant than an older game in a different city.

Oh, and you're welcome for beating the crap out of the Saints for you.

I asked this back in September...

Is it possible for us (Panthers fans) to talk with a Seahawks fan without the Seahawks fan going all "2005!!!" a la "frank and beans!"?

I understand it's been the highlight of your existence so far - losing a SB is our highlight too. But we don't "2003!" Eagles fans ad nauseum.

We had Stephen Davis on IR, Deshaun Foster broke his ankle against the Bears the week before, and Tatupu took out Nick Goings on a very late dirty hit. Congrats on being able to keep 3-4 DBs on Smitty the whole game.

'96, '03, and '05

Doh!  I remember now, you guys made the NFCCG in your first or second year, then were in a Super Bowl some time before you played us in 05.  (Going on memory, too lazy to look it up.)

In that case, I'm impressed that someone there remembered about our AFCCG appearance.

This year you beat us again, but so did 14 other teams in the last two+ years by a touchdown or less. Anyone that thinks we're not ready or have to take baby steps has no clue the maddening ways we lost games the last 2+ years. We have been able to play for some time and we have now turned the corner, winning close games, winning blowouts, winning period. We're scared of no one in no place. The last three NFC Champions were road teams, all against formidable foes in formidable venues (which Seattle is one). We can certainly win there, only time will tell.

We won that game, but we didn't beat you, in the sense of applying a beating.  We squeaked by in a close game.  That game showed me how for real your defense is.

Unfortunately, your quote system only quotes the original text in the quoted post, so my remarks appear out of context.  I wouldn't have mentioned 2005 at all, but someone was comparing a possible matchup with the Seahawks in the playoffs in Seattle with your experience with the Rams in 2003.  "No more difficult than St Louis in 2003."  I just thought it was odd and humorous that someone would look in the past beyond 2005 (which is completely not relevant) to something even less relevant in order make a case about your potential to beat us in the playoffs.

Tatupu's hit on Goings was not late.  In today's NFL, he would have been flagged and fined for helmet-to-helmet contact, but in the rules at the time, it wasn't illegal or dirty.  It was unfortunate that Goings went out of the game, but he gave just as good as he got.  Goings knocked Tatupu back and sent his mouthguard flying, and also gave Tatupu a concussion.  In today's NFL, neither one of them would have returned to the game.

Anyway, to your point, I didn't come here intending to rub 2005 in anyone's face, and I am happy to not mention it unless it's a relevant part of a conversation.  I hate it when Digits fan talk about their 5 Super Bowls like that proves anything today.

Can we forget about the Hawks their fans for now. We have bigger fish to fry on Sunday night. First we beat the Saints and then we take it one game at a time. The NFCC game is about 2 months off. Our team need to focus now and not to 2 months from now. That goes for us fans as well.

I felt it too when Steve Smith said these teams will meet again in January...

Seattle beat us in a good game week 1. We would have won if we didn't fumble the game sealing TD tun. Carolina has matured and changed so much since then I can't even explain it. I know Seattle has become a better team since week 1 as well. NFCCG vs Panthers and Hawks would be very interesting.
