What is the origin of the Riverboat Ron name?

The Riverboat Ron name started making the rounds after the Vikings game. The first person I saw use it was Cheven on twitter. This was literally during the game or right after it. My guess is it started on twitter, you won't be able to trace it to an article because those take time to write.

I hear it was a name given to him at birth, only to be used when he attained full Riverboat status.

This is almost the origin.  After this article came out, Grantland started calling him Riverboat Ron instead of Riverboat Rivera, and that's been his nickname ever since.
