Mariota will return to Oregon next year

This reminds me of the Matt Barkley situation. Expected top 5 pick, went back to SC, had an average year (SC had an awful year), and then picked in the 4th round by Philly. 

 

Especially seeing the collapse of the Oregon football program in recent weeks, I think Mariota made the wrong choice.

1. He's still young and yes, there are areas he can grow in.

2. I wouldn't want to play for the poo hole of a city Houston, or Jacksonville for that matter.

3. Whats wrong with the kid getting a degree. That's the main reason for going to college.

However, I disagree with your perspective of Houston. Any young QB drafted there will be loaded with weapons. Johnson, Hopkins, Foster, Tate. That's the best a young QB could ask for.

This surprises me, Mariota can't really improve his stock much more.

Not worth going back and risking the potential of an injury.

Then again... Maybe he remembers what happened last time Houston had 1st overall pick and took a QB. He might save himself an injury by staying in school...

 

Some guys simply love their school and want to spend four years there.

He would have been the first qb taken in this draft
