How many of the top 250 IMDB movies of all time have you seen? -fun game

131.

I've divined two things from this list, 1. I need to see more of the classic staples (Citizen Cane, All Quiet on the Western Front, Sunset Blvd, Ben Hur, etc. And I really need to invest some time in watching the Charlie Chaplin movies if I'm going to call myself a movie buff) and 2. Recency skews a lots of the more modern movies into this list, because there's a lot of crap in here. The only Batman movie that should even sniff the top 250 is the Dark Knight.

I'm just fuggin' ecstatic that Avatar isn't on this list.

those are the ones that I picked up...that most have not seen.

I took a cinematography class in college and we watched many of them.....even the Chaplin movies.  They are classics.

Agreed there is crap on that list - Toy Story 3? That movie kept dragging on and on.... it could have been an hour shorter and no significant plot would have been left out.

I've never seen 2 seconds of any LOTR movie. Or Harry Potter (don't remember if its on the list).

The lack of comedy (besides MP) isn't cool either.

I hate that Shutter Island made the list.

And I wouldn't force the issue, because if fantasy isn't your thing, it's not your thing, so don't waste your time. But I think you owe it to yourself to see the LOTR movies. If for no other reason than the visual spectacle of it. What they achieved on film is like a throwback to the film epics of the 1930s where sets were as glorious works of art as large as cities, and there were literally thousands of extras, each meticulously detailed. Except you also get fantastic battles with monsters and dragons.

Harry Potter you can skip. They're really for the kids who loved the books. They're entertaining enough, but forgettable.

I got to about 27 out of that list that I've seen entirely

I was about to say "fug this" when I didn't spot Jurassic Park in there but I saw it around the 200s so yeah. Where's Titanic?

E: so after a 2nd read through I found some that I missed the first time so it's more like 32. Still low, but I'm not a big movie watcher so that's no surprise to me

I know I've seen many classics as a child - Casablanca, GWTW etc. I didn't count them because I remember next to nothing.

The sad thing is I have the whole trilogy on DVD. Just never cared to watch it.

After seeing Avatar, I'm not sure how much of a wow factor I could get from LOTR.
