What Saints Fans are Saying

And in Buffalo.  And against Seattle.  Though perhaps AZ stands out more because Riverboat made his first appearance against the Giants.

Buffalo needed to happen.  It was the catalyst for turning Ron "punt on 4th down from the opponents 40 yard line on 4th and 1 with a 1 point lead" Rivera into the Riverboat Ron Rivera that we all know and love.

Let's put our homer glasses down for a second and acknowledge that Brees is the best QB we've faced all season long. Our secondary has benefitted from our front seven all year long. They've also gotten lucky breaks on a few deep bombs too. If QBs like Tannehill and Glennon can shred us deep, what makes you think Brees won't? Point blank, I don't trust our DBs. We bend but do not break and this is a bad match up for that type of offense. I have faith in our LB core and DL but they'll have to keep Brees on his back for 95% of the game and that may be too much to ask.

I'd just like to take a second and say I think Brady is better than Brees. But Brees is good too. It comes down to our secondary defending against the pass, and our offense putting up points.

So does the Huddle wanna help Growl go to New Orleans for this game?

The odds that they let me down on the sideline to take pictures of the cheerleaders are slim, but the last Panthers game I went to was when teh Jimmiez almost led a glorious comeback in New Orleans in the year that shall not be named. Me being there for that game has to count for something.

these threads are all the same, every week. The fans were playing against always say "we don't have a chance", "cam sucks", "we will destroy them", "secondary blows" etc...

It's easily 3:1 in terms of homers to non homers on message boards. we're probably no different. I saw some stuff from the Bucs forum last friday before our recent game against them and there were still threads on how they could make the playoffs this season. SMH.

That being said - I do think the winning streak comes to an end this week. Saints 30 Panthers 20. Think we win though when they come to town.

If that isn't enough to earn your graces, I should mention that I have both urinated on the side of the Superdome AND spat on the mid field logo when I snuck in with a friend while working a Motivational seminar at the Hornet's stadium across the street with a friend a couple years back. The security at the dome is terrible.

they are convinced the league is out to get them, only person they hate more than Cam, is Roger.... and maybe the refs.

they plead for players/coaches from other teams to get suspended, can't just man up and play they want other teams at less than full strength... a sign of their weakness.

this is rich...

After being down 17 early..
You guys think that maybe Payton realized that we might have to play Seattle again in the playoffs and that even if we came back to win there was pretty much no way we beat them twice in one season even in the superdome? Could explain the vanilla play calling that someone else mentioned

and another thread...

The road to MetLife goes thru Seattle (did Sean lay a trap?)
Tough loss for the home team... I don't know why many are shocked, because we do it to teams all the time. A team comes to our stadium and get sandblasted, and sent back home wondering what happened.

I think last night's game was hard to swallow because of how "average" the Seattle defense made our offense look. And it didn't help that Seattle's offense made our defense look incompetent.

But again... it happens.

I haven't (and won't) watch much football news this week, but I'm sure the Seattle hype train is in full throttle, and I also know that the Carolina bandwagon is filling to capacity, but come Sunday night... Carolina will get the same (or worse) beatdown that we took last night. We are just a different team at home (especially at night) than we are on the road.

Speaking of which... let's not think for a second that we're the worse road team in the league. Drew said this in an interview not long ago, but Denver's 2 losses were ON THE ROAD. New England's losses were all ON THE ROAD. Seattle's lone loss was ON THE ROAD. But all you'll hear is how the Saints are a bad road team (road record since 2009 be damm'd).

Anyway... the reality is this... if we want to get to the Super Bowl, we'll have to beat Seattle in their house. After last night's game I know that seems to be a tough task, but last night's game seemed VERY "vanilla" to me.

I don't know why... but to me it just seemed Sean's play-calling had absolutely no "imagination" to it. We ran the same route combos over and over (and it was open alot).

It makes me wonder if Sean Payton knew that it was gonna be tough, and just went into the game thinking that he'll play it close to the vest, and hold some of his wildcards for the next meeting. I'm not saying that we "threw the game"... it just seemed to me that we were just out there with no life. I attribute alot of that to Seattle's aggressiveness, but Payton is a slick dude, and I just wonder if he wanted to hold back and not put too much on film.

In the end... we still need to beat the stuffing out of Carolina twice and go up to St Lou and win (they've had our number lately). I look for us to get the #2 seed, and make another trip up to Seattle for the ticket to MetLife.

Sunday's upcoming game is the biggest game either team has played all season. It could very well decide between a home game or an away game to start the playoffs.

The Panthers are 7-0 in their last seven games. The Saints are a mediocre 4-3. It isn't difficult to see who the hotter team is right now.

It doesn't get much better than this.

It may not get better than this, but it should sound better.... Don't sell us short O' Fearless One... We are 8-0 in our last eight games. The Saints are a mediocre 5-3.

    • Respectfully, I completely disagree. Last year we were:  32nd in Sacks. 32nd in Turnovers.  32nd in Rushing TDs allowed  29th in Scoring.  We were absolutely atrocious on defense last year and that was with a full stable of weapons in Derek Brown, Frankie Luvu and Brian Burns that played all 17 games.  Using yards per game as a metric to guage our success lacks the context that because our offense was so inept teams were not driving the length of the field, they were starting at their 40-50 yard line.  This year, our Defense ranks:  31st in Sacks. Tied for 19th in Turnovers  31st in Rushing TDs allowed 32nd in Scoring  His defense fails to get pressure, fails to turn the ball over and fails to stop the run. Three things you absolutely have to do to be successful in the NFL.  Denver meanwhile has not missed a beat without him.  If another team wants to hire him as a HC and the Panthers get two 3rds for it I'll wish him the best and pack his bags myself.
