What Saints Fans are Saying

If the Panthers split the Taints we would be that 5 seed, with a good chance of playing you a third time. GL

Last two times panthers came to dome, Saints put up 45 and 38, almost double what the Panthers defense was averaging. Last time Payton was coaching Panthers offense put up just 17. Other time was 44 against the worst defense ever that has zero similarities to this year defense. If we split and Panthers come to dome for NFC champ game, they will be coming after their second physical playoff game, flying across country and then to NO while Saints would have played one game against a passing team like Lions in previous 2 weeks, with them well rested and playing at home. That would mean a less rested and less time to prepare Panthers team coming to Dome, that scenario greatly benefit Saints chances and I wouldn't mind that 3rd matchup either.

A couple quick questions for you guys since I don't to get to watch every single one of your games but how is your secondary? I remember going into our week 1 matchup they said that was your weak spot, has that changed since the start? Is the front 7 pulling most of the load or is it an underrated part of your defense?

weak link, but also underrated part.

very opportunistic and the front does a good job of providing them with plenty of opportunities.

they aren't getting scored on much. they keep everything out in front of them. they are fast and they swarm.

they for sure aren't to the level that the seahawks secondary is, but they get the job done.

i will say that the safeties have turned out to be really good. we lost godfrey to IR and got better. mike mitchell esp. has done well and he's become a pretty vital part of the defense. he's got a nasty attitude, really hard hitter, and is kind of a ball hawk. the combo of mitchell and mikell have been good for us.

i'd like better corners, but they aren't nearly the liability i thought they would be.

"don't use last year's stats to judge the saints! by the way, last year's panthers stats indicate they will lose this year."

Anybody heard anything on the injury to Zach Strief? Could be huge for their O-line.

since they spent pretty much the whole day waiting for an airplane and then on that airplane they probably won't know anything until tomorrow.

agreed that it could be huge, not that they were great on that OL anyway.

Bryce Harris has filled in fine at Tackle, but the Saints Oline is centered around their guard play, not tackles so it definitely is NOT huge or even close.

In 39 dropbacks, Brees was pressure 13 times and only sacked once. He had time to throw most of the game, just defense was lined up perfectly to defend what they were trying to do, and that was with Saints turned one dimensional and Hawks only playing pass most of the game meaning they had all their speed rush guys on field since they didn't need to worry about run,.

Your defense is a fraud. It's the 2011 defense tarted up and reschemed to try and mask the fact that it is the worst defense in NFL history. You're about to get curb-stomped in front of your own fans on national television while sliding to the barest of wild card berths. You're a fan of a finesse, mentally weak, self-absorbed and arrogant team, and will have nothing but tears to sate your hunger when we rip your guts out.

imo our secondary is the weakest part of our defense.

but that's relative... our secondary has outperformed many of our expectations by leaps and bounds, and is by no means a bad unit.

Of the 11 starters on defense, only two are same as last year and like 18 of the 27 defensive players that have played are new. The scheme is completely different, the overwhelming majority of players are new, and almost all the starters are new, Yet the defense in top part of league this year and leading league in sacks is the exact same one that ranked dead last in 2012.Sure, seems legit! lol

since that first game, we have made three changes to the starting lineup, moving Mitchell to FS, adding veteran Q Mikel playing him and Lester at SS, then picked Florence back up to start opposite Munnerlyn.  Melvin White usually comes in on nickel personnel.  They have been better than predicted, but still our weakest link on the team, but still good enough to have a top ranked defense.  A lot has changed since week one and I imagine it has for you guys as well.  Nice game last night, it was very entertaining.

Read more carefully,

WORST DEFENSE EVER THAT HAS ZERO SIMILARITIES TO TGIS YEARS DEFENSE.

DEFENSE

DEFENSE, NOT TEAM

SAY IT WITH ME...D...E...F...E...N...S...E!!!

team = offense + defense! I was referring to just one side, Saints offense is basically almost all the same guys, same scheme, same coaches, same OC, same play calling , etc. Saints. Saints defense is majority new guys, new scheme, new DC, new philosophy, etc

IE, Saints offense is 90% same, Saints defense is 85% different in every way.

Literacy, check into it!
