Bridgewater #1?

Mariota?????? He is a scrub, Bridgewater is miles ahead of him same goes for Carr and Bortles

Mariota??????

Look understand the love of Spread option qbs, but Cameron Newton is a one of a kind talent, once a generation talent.

He is the only spread option qb I would pick in the top 5 in any draft, I would take him Luck because of his abilities and ceiling.

Mariota doesn't even begin to sniffs Cams batman cleats when it comes to mercurial talent

if you want your traditional drop back passer who can make all the reads, make all the throws, run the game at the line scrimmage, does the little things right.

Bridgewater is your man

Remember competition is not only who your playing againts it is also who you are playing with

Go watch a Mariota vs. ****

and a Bridgewater vs. ****

Then come here and update your thread. Mariota doesn't make NFL throws, throws a lot of dinks&dunks off his back foot. And I can guarantee everyone that Bridgewater will run a faster 40 than him. Bridgewater did a lot of running in high school and some in his freshmen year at Louisville but because he's such a gifted passer and heady guy who can take advantage of average receivers they don't run him as much. I think throughout the combine process Mariota may not keep his high projection because flaws will be revealed in his footwork and passing ability. I think Bridgewater is more in the class of Winston but overlooked because he plays for Louisville. One thing about Bridgewater he's consistent the entire time he's been at louisville. Always put up similar numbers in wins or losses for 3 straight year. Never really had a bad game. His scouting report coming out of HS was uncanny accuracy. And every game he plays he'll put the ball in a spot where you'll say to yourself 'how the hell did he do that'. No franchise is gonna pass on a guy like that.

I agree with your analysis but if you were to look for someone who might have similar skills to Cam in college it might be Jeremy Johnson, a true freshmen at Auburn(Cam's alma matta). He's 6'6 230, can probably run a 4.55 and he's pure pocket passer. He's not the starter now(for obvious reason) but he played a full game when the starter was out and he makes it look easy. You'll start hearing about him soon. I think he might be the next Cam.

That is what I am hearing and he has Gus coaching him too

It's a completely moot point now, but you're hate for Mariota is either seriously misguided, or you just started watching Mariota after he sprained his knee. Also, no chance Bridgewater touches Mariota's eventual 40 time.  LOL at you thinking all Mariota does is throw dinks and dunks off his back foot. Look if you wanted to come in here with the point that Mariota isn't asked to go through a lot of progressions when he gets the ball, or doesn't play from under center, is asked to make quick timing throws to predetermined spots on the field I might try and carry on an intelligent conversation. But instead you came with "ZOMG he does nothing but dink and dunk off his back foot, he sucks OMG ZORZ"...

I think he gets the hype because of Kapaernick and Kaep wasn't even a top 5 pick. Heck, Kaep is not even playing like a top 5 pick. Unlike Kapaernick I doubt he'll end up getting drafted by a loaded team unless the Texans pick him. He's gonna be in a team where he'll be asked to make the team and his players better and the way you do that is by having an accurate arm. I keep hearing people talking how he needs to work on his throwing skill, then why the heck is he a projected top 5 picks. For you to succeed in the NFL you have to first and foremost have an NFL arm. He doesn't. I think Derek Carr is a way better prospect than him.

Any way, that was just my opinion. I have nothing invested in liking or hating any of those QBs. By the way, how fast do you think Mariota will run the 40. I know Bridgewater will be in the 4.55-4.60. BW has a quick and short stride and Mariota has a slower and longer stride. Because MM runs often people assume he's fast. Not the case. Here is one of few clip of BW running(fast forward to 1:08):

That's a 4.5 dude running right there. If you wanna see more of his running you can look for his HS highlights. It's amazing how people feed off what the media tell them instead of doing their own research.

And this clip tells it all about Bridgewater's athletical ability:

Mariota was electronically timed at 4.48 in the 40 in High School. He's going to be a high 4.4's - very low 4.5's guy. Again it's a moot point, he's going back to school and wont be drafted this year. Just don't understand the "Mariota is a scrub" talk. He's a very talented QB, with an incredible ceiling. He plays in an offense that doesn't require routine NFL throws of him, but he's shown the ability to do it. He's got a ton of tools, and a frame that will allow him to put more weight on without sacrificing too much of his athleticism. I fully expect him to be even better next year, and still be a top 10 pick IF he stays healthy...

    • Hope Koch recovers (he’s stated numerous times he doesn’t like to be called “koochie”) soon. But he does not instill confidence in the crease. I don’t have any confidence in any of our goalies, healthy or not. Andersen when available gives us the best chance to win but he’s never available.    Team has to explore trade options soon.
    • Respectfully, I completely disagree. Last year we were:  32nd in Sacks. 32nd in Turnovers.  32nd in Rushing TDs allowed  29th in Scoring.  We were absolutely atrocious on defense last year and that was with a full stable of weapons in Derek Brown, Frankie Luvu and Brian Burns that played all 17 games.  Using yards per game as a metric to guage our success lacks the context that because our offense was so inept teams were not driving the length of the field, they were starting at their 40-50 yard line.  This year, our Defense ranks:  31st in Sacks. Tied for 19th in Turnovers  31st in Rushing TDs allowed 32nd in Scoring  His defense fails to get pressure, fails to turn the ball over and fails to stop the run. Three things you absolutely have to do to be successful in the NFL.  Denver meanwhile has not missed a beat without him.  If another team wants to hire him as a HC and the Panthers get two 3rds for it I'll wish him the best and pack his bags myself.
