Cam Newton making his way to another record

Smith had more yards than AJ Green the two years prior to this one. Should Newton have a two/thirds asterisk?

Point is the receiver creates the yards by great playing. Kind of like in the old days when delhomme just took a five step drop and bombed it away as far as he could almost without looking at Smith knowing he would do the rest and go get it.

Those yards are all in delhommes stats but none of it would have happened without Smith.

Another good stat from PFT:

But was it during a full moon on a Monday?

I hate those oddly specific stats.

Don't get me wrong, it's awesome. But the arbitrary decision on where to cut off the yardage is weird.

Except for that year he made Moose the #1 WR in the league. But yeah Smitty made that happen too.

Stafford should have an asterisk by his passing yards every year. So many times Stafford just blindly chucks the ball up in the air and Calvin comes down with it.

Yeah, NFL QBs make a living just chucking the ball up and hoping.

You can tell folks that have no idea what happens outside of Charlotte. Over the last 3 years Stafford has thrown for 15,000 yards. Calvin only has a little over 5,000 of them. If my math is correct, which I am sure it is, that leaves almost 10,000 yards to spread around to other receivers.

I know it is hip to throw out 1 liners. But, you have to know you will get called out when you try and blow smoke up our assez.

Poor effort there bucko.

Ah sorry skippy, I wasn't aware that there was a "1 liner" officer patrolling these boards... calm down.

My statement wasn't meant to be taken all that serious. Stafford has a cannon of a arm and can spin it as good as anyone. But atleast once a game Stafford is back there scrambling for his life and launches a jump ball to CJ who usually comes down with it.

    • Hope Koch recovers (he’s stated numerous times he doesn’t like to be called “koochie”) soon. But he does not instill confidence in the crease. I don’t have any confidence in any of our goalies, healthy or not. Andersen when available gives us the best chance to win but he’s never available.    Team has to explore trade options soon.
    • Respectfully, I completely disagree. Last year we were:  32nd in Sacks. 32nd in Turnovers.  32nd in Rushing TDs allowed  29th in Scoring.  We were absolutely atrocious on defense last year and that was with a full stable of weapons in Derek Brown, Frankie Luvu and Brian Burns that played all 17 games.  Using yards per game as a metric to guage our success lacks the context that because our offense was so inept teams were not driving the length of the field, they were starting at their 40-50 yard line.  This year, our Defense ranks:  31st in Sacks. Tied for 19th in Turnovers  31st in Rushing TDs allowed 32nd in Scoring  His defense fails to get pressure, fails to turn the ball over and fails to stop the run. Three things you absolutely have to do to be successful in the NFL.  Denver meanwhile has not missed a beat without him.  If another team wants to hire him as a HC and the Panthers get two 3rds for it I'll wish him the best and pack his bags myself.
