Cam Newton making his way to another record

Another good stat from PFT:

Cam Newton plays the quarterback position like no one else, ever. After leading the Panthers to another win on Sunday, Newton is on pace for 3,488 yards passing and 596 yards rushing this season. That’s actually par for the course for Newton (he topped both of those totals in both of his previous two seasons in the NFL), but it’s almost unheard of for any other NFL quarterback. Do you know how many times in NFL history a player has had at least 3,488 passing yards and at least 596 rushing yards in a season? Four: Randall Cunningham in 1988, Daunte Culpepper in 2002, Cam Newton in 2011 and Cam Newton in 2012. Newton’s ability to beat teams with his arm and his legs is something we just haven’t seen before. Like Adrian Peterson, Newton is a player all football fans should appreciate.

You're joking, right? Although Smitty amassed more yards, he is clearly declining. Green is a young buck who ranks up there with Calvin, Blackmon, Gordon and Julio.

I am not joking at all.  I'm just pointing out how silly this whole asterisk thing is. Good passing stats are going to reflect good play on both ends of the pass.

    • Mustard BBQ sauce only. Bessingers or Melvin's BBQ sauce.  However Bessingers is the best in the world, Melvin is 2nd.    I found this article    In fact, the New York Times Magazine described the sauce as “terrifically balancing the tangs of mustard and vinegar with a wood fire's charry flavor.” While helping his dad, Joseph “Big Joe” Bessinger, as a teenager in the kitchen of the family's first restaurants, Thomas learned the secret recipe for the gold sauce – ... https://www.bessingersbbq.com › t... • Stats really show the picture more than they lie, but I get what folks are saying.  Tua in Miami, for example, just got a deal and his stats are inflated by some pretty explosive "after the catch" guys.  I would say that Bryce has a better OL and has lost 3 of his top 4 WRs this year.  He really has not had a great TE--so to be fair, stats work both ways.  But you do not pay a QB $35m to learn football for 3 seasons.  So to answer your question, do I feel that we can win with Bryce with 1 timeout, 2 minutes to go 80 yards, down by 5?  No.  When that answer is "Yes," we have our starter.
