Here is why we should absolutely root for the Seahawks tonight

Let's go through this.

 

SEAHAWKS WIN PROS:

- Moves us one step closer to winning the division which would give us a bye and a home game.

- It gives everyone a warm feeling in the loins when the Saints lose.

 

SEAHAWKS WIN CONS:

- Makes the chances of us winning homefield advantage throughout the playoffs even more remote.

- Might make the Saints more likely to win against us the following week (pissed off with something to prove, hard to imagine the Saints losing twice in a row)

 

Here is why those "cons" are bogus and if you think you're being smart by rooting for the Saints tonight, you're wrong.

 

1.) Homefield advantage is already gone. Counting tonight, the Seahawks have 5 games left:

 

NEW ORLEANS

@ San Francisco

@ NY Giants

ARIZONA

ST. LOUIS

 

The Seahawks have a 2 game lead on us right now plus the tiebreaker. That means we would have to win out and the Seahawks would have to go 0-5, 1-4, or 2-3 in these last 5 for us to gain homefield. The odds of that happening are extremely tiny, not much better than us hoping they go 0-4 or 1-3 after this week. No one knew it at the time, but DeAngelo fumbling in Week 1 cost us a chance at homefield advantage. Instead of being down by basically 3, we'd be a half game up (We would be 10-2 and the Seahawks 9-2) and we would own the tiebreaker.

 

2.) If you believe the Panthers are truly a Super Bowl team and are worthy of this 8 game winning streak, then you should have no fear about another team's mentality when they play us. Beating the Saints on the road next week is already going to be a difficult task going off stats: Drew Brees has never lost in the Superdome on Sunday Night Football. He's undefeated. We're already facing something that's supposed to be impossible. If the Saints lose tonight, Riverboat and the coaching staff can see what Seattle did successfully and see what kinds of wrinkles they can put into their own gameplan on Sunday night. Lesser teams are the ones that worry about another team's "mentality". If we're good enough to beat the Saints, then we're good enough to beat the Saints.

 

And I think we will.

 

Why is so hard to believe that Sea. can't lose 2 more games? If we can win out, they can lose 2.

Winning out, and winning a Super Bowl, would just be Camesque. He is top ten in mulitiple categories. He is getting closer and closer to being what we dreamed of him becoming.

With this Defense, teamed with this Offense? Why can't Cam run off one of those 7 game end of the year winning streaks? Yeah, we that scary.

We win out, regular season, we hit the Playoffs as the favorites. Plain and simple. I will settle for spanking the aints twice, and taking the Division. But, I would not bet against Cam right now.

Let's see, Sea. has to lose 4 total games, we have to win out to get HFA. They lose tonight, that's 2. Sea. has a tough schedule, with, I think, all 4 being Divisional games. They are in no way assured HFA. Yet. With the start we had, winning the Division is reward enough. Part of me wants Cam to go on one of those mystical runs. Win out and we are on a 12 game winning streak. Kinda like an undefeated college season. Then go 3-0 in the Playoffs, and finish the season on a 15 winning streak. "This Team" is capable of great things. The only thing I am worried about, is our inexperience.

Root for Seattle now, then hope Carolina gets the 2 seed and Seattle loses in the divisional round. It's that simple.

Your scenario 2 is wrong. The tie-breaker that would be used would be the Common Games record then it will be the conference record.

 

I just forgot to mention it.  We tie in the common games record too.  As all 3 losses for both of us have come against the NFC West and AFC East, which are our common opponents.

Exactly, We are just as hungry and no doubt we smell weakness, no is the time to pounce and bury em in the ground

They are not a physical team.  They try to act tough but they are not.  They can be physically dominated on the line.  Other than Graham, none of their receivers have any physicality.  Drew Brees can be shook.  Our secondary is not as good as Seattle. But our front 7 is.  If we can maintain our consistent drives we will have good success.

Yeah this Panthers team is really good especially on D. I was in the camp that was sort of hoping for an improbable Seattle collapse and the Panthers to run the table but oh well, play the hand you're dealt.

And these guys seem up to it. When your defense and special teams are this freaking good you're probably going to be in every game and get a bounce or two your way.
