CBS Sports: "Cam Newton or Russell Wilson?" [Video]

Shocked to see RW with more rushing yards.

Trying to see it through uninterested observer eyes and right now it is a tough question.  But a good problem to have.

Interesting that Cam is back in the equation(s) again..... as recently as 2-3 weeks ago it would have been RW vs. RGme or Luck with no mention of Cam at all.

He had 2 games where he rushed for a shitload of yards (over 100 against the Colts I think), but he still isn't half the runner Cam is.  I'd say he's on par with Cam as a straight up scrambler, and a better thrower on the run than Cam.  Honestly, I think Wilson might be the best thrower on the run in the NFL.

if the seahawks and panthers were to replay week one with both teams looking like they do right now and rivera game managing like he is, the panthers win.

i have no doubts about that.

if we face them in the playoffs and have to play in seattle, the only advantage they have is that stadium. you put them in a neutral setting and the panthers win.

boomer is a fuging retard and let emotions play into his decision.

oh and hey anybody remember cam's speech pre-media questions when this team was struggling in the beginning?

Boomer seemed like he was taking that poo awful personal that they were taking Cam instead of Wilson.  Lol dude was straight mad for some reason... James even mentioned he never seen him so animated over a topic.  Like seriously... what does it really matter to him anyway who people would take?

Boomer is acting like an old cry baby.  I dont like it when guys celebrate so I think they think its all about them.  I want the NFL to be like it was 30 years ago when people did not celebrate so much.  Forgeting about the fun bunch,  the smurfs,  and group celebrations like that which you can't do now.

The bottom line to me is I see Russell Wilson as a finished product.  An excellent quaterback but I think he is hitting his head on his celiling right now.  I don't think he will ever be much better than he is right now.  Very good but what you see now is the best you are going to ever get from him.

Cam, if he can read defense a little quicker and fix his mechanics, I dont know that there is a celiling for him.  Think Vick that could complete 65% of his throws and did not get hurt.  I don't know that he will get there but he could.

Fug Boomer. I'm glad he went off like that. In the past, he was always giving half-assed, backhand compliments to Cam and The Panthers. Remember his rookie year? Marino and Sharpe called Cam a once-in-a-generational talent. They were praising Cam's willingness to stay in the pocket and read defenses instead of scrambling on every other down. Boomer, of course, called them 'crazy'. He said there was nothing special about Cam, proceeded to question his intelligence and compared him to pre-prison Vick. Sharpe gave Boomer the same look he did in that video above and Marino disagreed severely.

Links?

Boomer is entitled to his opinion, but he gets so "exercised" about it. And he never really answers James Brown's question about why he's so worked up? I'd like to know the true answer; I think it would have something to do with a little bitterness.

As of right now Cam has about 40 more rushing yards and 5 more rushing tds. Russell still has to play tonight tho. The only beef I have with Cam these days and what's keeping him from being Elite is that one or two times a game he makes some dumb ass decisions. He's so much better than that.

I actually think he would have more td passes and yards if our defense wasn't shutting teams out. A lot of games this year have been over well before the 4th quarter, to the point where we aren't even throwing the ball anymore.

Russell Wilson is a stud, I'm not even gonna lie... he's going to be one of the best in the league for a long time... but you can't deny he's got a lot more help on the offensive side of the ball.  Not only that but also have a defense that isn't far behind ours (and in some people's opinions, better than ours).

Every Seahawks game I watch for every good Wilson play be it a scramble or what, there's consistent great runs by Lynch and amazing circus catches by his receivers and they get the YAC to go along with it.  Can't say the same for Cam's offensive help... aside from Olsen he has to put the ball right on the numbers every damn time to make a completion, very little margin of error.  I'm guessing that's what Marino, Sharpe, and Cowher are looking at as well.

Bingo/Tilt/Explosion....................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oops, there it is!!!!!!!!!!

Everybody's always quick to blame Cam when he throws an INT or misses a receiver, but many other wide receivers make those catches (like Lafell's finger tip miss that led to Cam's first INT). That wasn't an impossible catch. I see other receivers make that catch regularly. S. Smith also Fell down on that near INT with Revis. And Rivera indicated there was a "mis-communication" with the receiver on Cam's 2nd INT over the middle. But where always quick to blame Cam with out thinking.

Cam is actually more accurate, than we give him credit for, cause he has to be so precise (as you stated) with those receivers (just think of the easy drops, mind you the tough ones), while he's alway throwing under pressure (or thinks he is), because of the suck ass offensive line that Cam bails out all the time, due to his strength, moxy, determination to stand tall in the pocket and elusiveness.

Lastly, Cam never had the luxury of riding a running game the way Wilson has, and just started to benefit from a good defense and consistently good coaching, as Wilson's had from his first season.

I love Wilson (and think he's better than the others, with maybe the exception of Luck in the long run), but I would go with Cam as well. Wilson's a very good young QB. Cam Newton is a weapon (or "Weapons grade")!

Not me.

Wilson is more of a scrambler, and Cam is more of your traditional pocket QB.

Wilson actually throws better off the run. If you keep him in the pocket, he can't see over the defense, unless he has room to create lanes like Drew Brees. He also appears to get a little antsy, and wanna run if his receivers are locked (though not as bad as RG3 or Kaep).
