Best damn Essay on Jake Delhomme this Offseason!

The Jake followers right now are like the Japanese fanatics who hid in the jungle and threw doody at GIs after the official surrender. They refused to accept reality while the rest of us made realiable cars and video games.

Having had a bunch of friends in Vietnam, I take offense to your analogy. Sure, you were talking about WWII, but my best friend came home from Vietnam with no legs, lost in a helicopter crash and committed suicide some years later because he could no longer deal with it. I lost 7 out of 9 friends who went over there. When the draft stopped, my lottery number was 3, rated 1A and on my way, then they stopped the draft. One of my other best friends went on a tear and was shot down by police trying to flee. It was not a good time and not something to joke about, IMHO...:(

Off topic in a big way, but being a child of the post Vietnam error I once wished we as a country could at some point in my lifetime heal (not forget) the wounds left by war.

Unfourtantly I'm afraid we're in the midst of a whole nother round with the vet's of Iraq.

We've yet to hear all the scarring that will be left from this one, but how many generations will it take to have a nation that's not affected by the trauma's of war?

Huge differences though and my apologies for the hijack. When the soldiers returned from Vietnam they were met by jaunts of Baby killer at the airport and into society. They were prejudiced against when trying to get jobs and harassed at every point. The soldiers today are treated like heros and it cuts the Vietnam soldiers even worse.

They have never been heralded as a force that 90% had no choice in going to serve their country in the first place, but did the right thing and did it. Those guys were my friends and they didn't come back, or were killed shortly thereafter due to psychological damage, I've invested in it, I hope you can understand it. And yes, I do expect there to be fallout from this one, but not to the same extent...

I do understand, I didn't have friends, but fathers of friends that didn't make it back, or didn't make it back whole. IMO it's the blackest mark on this country that we know, but even our victors of previous wars were scarred.

My grandfather served in WWII, and although considered a hero (and he most defiantly was) he'd never speak a word about it. My dad was called up for Vietnam, but I feel lucky he didn't go, because of me... I had a few good friends that got their dads back, but you could tell how much it affected them.

LOL This is the most heated Jake drama yet.

I said a while back I was going to stop bashing Jake, because at this point in the year it was time to move on.

Rage-

I am a bit surprised with your posts because you know all too well if anyone posts any criticism of Fox's conservatism or resentment in the re-signing Jake the pack of dogs will be all over you.

( Mintal,Rayzor,Panther55 to name a few)

Coming at this from another view:

Last year was the first time since the superbowl that this city felt the magic.

Many of us thought last year we were really going to make it back to the superbowl.

We had the all the right pieces in place to win using John Fox's conservative formula.

For whatever reason we abandon our strengths too early and Jake had the worst game of his career.

I think what makes the Jakes critics angry and argumentative (however you want to describe it) with the pack of dogs is the following:

You wont admit that Jake is not a franchise QB and is just average.

As long as Jake is here we will never have consecutive deep playoff runs or titles of any kind.

A dynasty will never happen with this regime, because we continually execute a one way street strategy.

We need to have a stellar running game to make it anywhere with Fox and Jake.

(remember the Seattle playoff game)

Arizona played it smart and all teams will use the same strategy, make Jake beat you.

With all that being said, Fox is our coach and Jake is our QB for 2009/10.

All the right pieces are still in place from last year and as long as Jake does not have a repeat performance in the playoffs this season we should still have great expectations for this upcoming season!

would like to see a post where this supports your theory...

This is why there have been debates in this thread... baffling how off perceptions can be..

with Raging bull talking about people wanting Colbert to stay around forever and that Foster was a great RB and that Morgan was always expected to play a full season, I'm really in awe here...

Jeez, are these people for real? We say average, average, average, average and all they see is elite or franchise...

The problem with you critics is you argue out of your butt almost all of the time and you are wrong the rest.

As one of the dog pack lets review: Jake is our franchise quarterback like it or not and he is average, which is what Fox wants.

We have only had 2 deep playoff runs this decade and 3 times in our history and Jake engineered both of them. So the evidence would actually suggest the opposite. Maybe Jake is the best guy to get us deep in the playoffs.

There are few if any dynastys in football. And frachise quarterbacks like Brady or Manning come by very infrequently. How many teams have dynasty quarterbacks. Get real!!

When teams try to shut us down using an 8 man front like Denver this year. Jake had the ability to throw them out of the coverage. Seattle 3 years ago is the best you can do to show teams stack against the run to make Jake beat them?? There were examples this year but I am not going to help you.

I guess that was the same arizona earlier in the year that Jake burned for a 122 rating.

And if all of you would just accept Jake is our guy and hope for the best as you did in the last paragraph, you wouldn't be haters and the dogs would be quiet. I can't speak for someone else but I comment when I see blatantly simplistic incorrect logic or what I believe to be biased ignorant statements. What irks me are folks who spout the same old crap after they have been proven ad nauseum to be incorrect but persist in the same lame arguments.

I would love to see actual posts to which this statement is referring to....

Anyone of your posts in this thread.

I would have no problem with Jake being average if he could do it consistently. But every 3 to 5 games he blows up into a gumbo eating pick six machine of doom.

Mintal I don't even know how to respond to you linking that joke to disrespecting vietnam vets.

see, there you go. you just discredited everything you will ever say by just this one post.

Claim whatever you want, but your basis is fabricated at best..

You will not find one post where I say Jake is anything more than an average QB...

Thats why I said, show me. Don't pretend... Don't lie.

"As one of the dog pack lets review: Jake is our franchise quarterback like it or not and he is average, which is what Fox wants"

Thank you,,,that one line there pretty much sums it all up. Some of us just arent cool with that, and some are. That doesnt make us simplistic or ignorant.

I did not want to list 3 pages worth of examples, but regarding the Seattle game.....Davis and Foster were hurt and Seattle pretty much triple teamed Smitty. This is a worst case scenerio for Fox. (Relying on the pass to win the game)

Jake is all we had, and he could not get the ball to anybody else on the team. To Jake/'s credit Colbert and Carter suck and just like Foster we held them for too long.

I was just telling you what gets under our skin nothing more.

We are not a fan conservative formula using an average QB, it is very one dementional. Like said before though , we have all the pcs in place to win this year using Fox's formula so there is reason for high hopes....GO PANTHERS!
