Barner breakout game?

lightsout

Recommended Posts

Everyone talks about committing to him and using him as a swing/slot back.  Well, we don't need to commit to him because we have a good running core.  I would love for us to use him more like a swing/slot back, but evidently he isn't showing enough in practice to break into the game.  Could you imagine lining Tolbert and Barner up in the pistol, motioning Barner to the slot, and begging the opposing defense to stop us?  But Barner can't get into the game for some reason.

Barner needs to bulk up a bit after watching him getting laid out in today's game and being thrown around like a rag doll.Sure he is a "scat back", but he is going to get beat up with his slight frame. Shula will have to use him sparingly to get results or he won't last long.

i lol'd when he got hammered on his first two plays, he's the what? 4th option at RB i don't care how well he plays we will see 10 of him in the next 10-15 years easy and each as unremarkable as the last

I only care about players that prove themselves worth of my attention, not career backups that are here one year and gone the next

How exactly is that funny? He's still a rookie. It isn't the end of his career after one game.

It's funny because people make a big deal out of it, that why, and I don't care if he's a rookie. NFL is a show me league, it's like Joe Adams was for a few years dude was nothing but crap and people still acted like he really could be something,  Mike Goodsen at least had some talent but couldn't hold onto the ball.

IDC about Barner until he shows me something.

Goodson has just about worked his way out of the league.

I was on the fence about Adams, but I felt like he could have gotten one more season. He's gone regardless.

Barner was a late round pick, little risk involved really. If he works out great, if not, ohwell. I don't laugh at any of our players getting laid out though. Sorry, but that's just lame. It's easy to be a tough guy, and judge him through a keyboard, quite different to actually play.

I would like to see Barner add somewhere around 10 pounds of muscle by the start of next season. To write Barner off already would be dumb. There was no where for him to run yesterday when he got the ball.

I think if he adds some weight he could be what Deangelo was for us during Cam's first two years but quicker and not afraid to take a hit. Just a change of pace kind of back, that they could also throw screens to and run sweeps for. All of course for a fraction of the price. I love DWill and always will but he's the kind of back that depends on his speed, obviously at his age he's lost a step or two.

Barner needs time but I sure hope he is taking advantage of being around a guy like Deangelo right now. Barner needs to learn how to patient and wait for blocks to set up, something Deangelo was great at.
