According to Rivera, Cam called the Game winning play

He is only going to get better. Think about that and let it sink in.

I said when we drafted him if he can keep his completion % at 55-60% he will be fine because of the plays he can make with his legs. I also said if he rever gets to 65% he will be damn near amazing. It may still take a couple more seasons but I can see him getting to that 65% threshold pretty soon.

I'm sure it was one of those deals where he came to the huddle with 3 play options, and he was able to choose at the LOS which play to run base on the defensive look he got. We actually had no receivers and 6 Linemen in the game.

I hear Cam out there checkin in and out of plays all the time.

I don't know why this is so shocking.

Exactly.

Easily one of the more overlooked things Cam really excels at.

Carolina Panthers @Panthers 14m

Rivera says Cam called final scoring play vs Dolphins & did so running no-huddle. Team will consider using it more - in certain situations.

I've been critical of cam in the past, but if this is true (and of course it is) then wow look at our QB.

Man it sounds like he doesn't need all the restraints we've been trying to put on him in offense. How great is it to see him grow into this franchise quarterback that our team needs?

Some of these reporters need to listen more than tweeting.

No...this can't be true. Cam doesn't have the "intangibles" to make such a great call. At least that is what those in the sports media have been pushing about him and way to many folks are willing to easily believe.

Oh yeah...I forgot., he's now maturing and making better decision.....BECAUSE THOSE IN THE MEDIA SAID SO!

If this is from his press conference (which I assume it is), i just listened to it. Cam called his TD run and not the game winning TD was what he said.

Feel free to edit thread title.

I watched the interview a bit ago, and you're right, Rivera was talking about the no huddle stretch at the beginning of the second half, and that Cam called his own number at the goal line for the TD. Which makes more sense now because we ran the game-winning play out of a timeout the Dolphins called.

Still a smart play, though, he set it up by running four zone read plays in a row, and when the Dolphins overran it in an effort to stop it he ran it right up the middle.
