Week 12 Power Ranking Round Up

Bleacher Report

This Week's Rank: 5

Last Week's Rank: 6

Differential: +1

We're all taking the Carolina Panthers seriously now, right? With an incredible seven straight wins, the Panthers are among the hottest teams in the NFL. They're also finding their stride as the season ends, and previous seasons have shown that momentum to end the regular season has a major influence in the playoffs.

The playoffs seemed like a distant goal for this team when the season began, but Ron Rivera is coaching looser while allowing his coordinators to be more aggressive on both sides of the ball. As the coaches have adjusted, the young players have risen to the occasion. Cam Newton is playing like an MVP candidate, Luke Kuechly is a Pro Bowl candidate, and each week the team is getting big plays from unlikely sources.

The Panthers would be the No. 5 seed in the NFC right now, but they've got their eye on the New Orleans Saints and the NFC South title. The two teams meet in Weeks 14 and 16, with the winner taking the division and a home playoff game.

didn't think I saw ESPN yet, sorry if so:

Panthers at #5, 1 below the Patriots (bullllshit):

Cam Newton was 0-for-7 with an interception on throws at least 15 yards downfield Sunday, his first career game with at least seven attempts and no completions on deep throws.

Thanks for the awesome insight into our 4th quarter comeback in which Cam drove us downfield with time running out and threw a game winning TD pass.

but hey, let's focus on Cam not throwing down field. hurr.

NFL.com has us at 4, i didn't see it posted.

1) Seahawks
2) Saints
3) Broncos
4) Panthers
5) Patriots

The Carolina Panthers looked more like Steel Panther during the first half. Give Ron Rivera and that coaching staff a lot of credit for righting the ship at the break. ( Cam Newton, too.) Lastly, Carolina might not use Mike Tolbert much, but Panthers fans must notice what a boost the 245-pounder gives this club when he gets going. Those were some clutch runs Tolbert delivered to set up Newton's game-winning strike to Greg Olsen.

And Reddit:

4.         Panthers     +1     8-3     Coming off two huge, emotional victories, the Panthers were primed for a letdown despite all talk to the contrary, and a desperate Dolphins team literally drew first blood. After a sloppy first half from the offense and blown coverages from the defense, the Panthers used some more 4th down courage to pull off a game-winning drive by Cam Newton. A home matchup against a streaking Tampa Bay will demand better overall effort.

What a weak ass attempt to take a shot at Cam.  He'd be surprised if he actually knew who the Dolphins' QB was?  Does this guy know anything about how a QB studies film?  Just to give him a hint, I doubt Cam watched much film on Ryan Tannehill while preparing to face the Miami DEFENSE.

I feel as if this needs to be posted here as well:

Q So who is Walter of Walterfootball.com? Can you tell us a little about your background?

A In short, I'm a football fan who loves to write. I graduated from Penn State in 2006 with a degree in journalism. I've written for several newspapers, including the Centre Daily Times, where I had my own column while I was in college. I've also had about a dozen articles published by USA Today.

I run my Web site on a full-time basis, so that's how I can put in all of these hours to watch the games, write about them and make fun of the idiotic coaching decisions several teams make. WalterFootball.com is my job, but it doesn't feel like a job. It's a lot of fun, and I could never imagine myself not running the site.

Q Your site Walterfootball.com is much loved by mock draft and fantasy football fans. What made you put the site together and how long have you been doing it?

A My Web site started as a class project back in 1999 when I was a senior in high school. In my Internet class, we were asked to make a Web site based on something we like. I loved the NFL, so I made WalterFootball.com. I got an A on the project.

Back then, all the site contained were picks and power rankings. Since then, I've gradually added more features. After high school, the site became a hobby. When I switched my major to journalism, I turned the site into something on my resume. Eventually, it became a full-time gig.

In short, the guy has zero credentials to analyze football.  I doubt he ever played the game at any level.  Props to him for finding a way to cash in on the internet, but don't put too much faith in his opinions.

Disgruntled steelers fan (idiot).  Fug him.
