Cam Newton's "Flop" and "Acting" Is What Got Us The Win -- Today in Yahoo Sucks

Recommended Posts

How about the the Wake hit on Cam early in the game?

How about Ginn being wrapped up on a punt after calling a fair catch?

How about the ground causing an incompletion on one of the deep Wallace receptions?

How about us losing a challenge to a receiver who didn't control the ball all the way to the ground?

The vast majority of calls went against us today Miami won two challenges and got some generous spots on third down. We still won. The NFL is extra bitter seeing Cam and the Panther's pull wins out of a hat like magicians do rabbits. Ice up NFL, ice up.

Even a couple of Miami fans acknowledged that they got most of the calls.

I didn't see it as a flop, he kinda slipped on the way down and the fact that the Dolphin player gave him a little push at the end of the play definitely didn't help him.

This is what i am talking about when it comes to our media and their ability to sway folks to see things their way. They made a big deal over Luke's guarding of Gronk and exaggerated it to be a "bear hug, when it clearly wasn't. But them continually screaming that it was, folks started to see it that why. Now we have the situation with Cam. They are ignoring the fact that the guy did shove Cam before he was out of bounds, which is a no..no, period! But they want us to see it as nothing more than a simple tap and Cam over exaggerated his fall.

It's clear they are still quite bitter over the Panthers win over the Pats.

i actually thought the opposite was going to happen. i thought people would dick ride hard when we started winning.

we are genuinely a hated team and i think it all starts with our starting qb. the reader comments on some of these articles with backhanded comments like, "cam is just like jamarcus russell, the defense wins them games" stuff like that makes me realize Cam will always be a polarizing sports figure. nothing is going to change that.

i guess i shouldnt have been so naive.

this is how i thought it would happen. cam is the type guy people love to hate on. he makes people jealous kind of the same way tom brady does/did throughout his pro career. cam is just so talented and....well...such a specimen, that they hate him.

the first sign was the amount of venom that came about during the draft process. it was personal. people wanted to see him fail to a degree that very few have. there was no denying the talent and ability but nobody should be that good, that good looking, and that happy. they kept making up reasons that he would fail in hopes that he would. that didn't happen his rookie year except that he wasn't winning and then that was the angle he took. he can't win. he wasn't as dynamic year two as year one and that was their angle at that point. he peaked. everyone figured him out. bust.

he got better as the season progressed, but the haters were only too happy to ignore that and focus on the shine that was coming from luck, griffin, kaep, and wilson.

to start this year...the haters said "cam is who we thought he was" and it even happened in here where people were already talking about our next QB and who it should be next year and how we should get him. you'll notice that a couple of these hacks were only here while cam was struggling saying "i told you so"...only his struggles didn't last.

we have seen less hate and more praise coming recently and i think that will continue, but there will always be those who put cam under a microscope looking for holes in superman's cape. the haters will continue to hate and we'll hear all kind  of  reasons for that hate, but it ultimately boils down to this one thing...nobody should be that good, that successful, that happy, and that good looking. he's too close to being "perfect" and we can't have that...esp. if he isn't unassuming and doesn't shy from the spotlight (i'm talking about other people's perception...not mine).

he has a definite swagger...but he's not the only one on the team. the team is full of guys with it on both sides of the ball. they are hard nosed and real brawlers who don't shy away from running their mouths, even keek while he's on the field does it.

this is a team that says heading into the game says they are going to knock the other team's teeth out, and then knocks them out, and then says "hey! you see that? we just knocked their teeth out...next team up gonna have their teeth knocked out too."

if this team keeps on winning, we're going to hear a lot of crap from haters just like the pats have gotten over the years and cam is going to be in the forefront of all of it.

and you know what? i love it.

It was the same push out of bounds they have called all season(ala TB vs NYJ)...he was a step out of bounds when he got the two hand back push...the slip on that surface that everyone slips on when they run on it in cleats needs to go. it did make it look worse so it was not a flop just a slip that Cam recovered from.

either way it was a foul..

Kinda like the fair catch thing... tho I feel I must have missed a new rule or something... but, When Ginn signaled for a fair catch, caught the ball, and the Miami player touched him... shouldn't that have had a flag tossed? I mean he wasn't tackled. but last I knew you couldn't touch the player.

I agree and Mike Pereria agreed too...

If you touch the QB as he's going oob it's a flag.  Watched at full speed, it's absolutely a push.

I honestly don't think there was any kind of grand conspiracy against the Panthers, I just think that ref crew sucks.

The fact that they can watch the replay, and call that a catch when the receiver clearly dropped the ball is proof.

He didn't get pushed out. The defender actually tried to pull him back up. (From what I seen) Cam slipped, he didnt flop. However, he didn't run to ref and say, "Hey, he didn't push me down. Please pick up that flag good sir."

no poo, no one would say that
