Division vs Wild Card break down

Why is it that Arizona is a matchup problem for Carolina?  

To me Carolina is a better team. I still don't understand how the Cardinals slapped the Panthers around to be honest.

If we can win two more games we are going to be a wildcard. If we get swept by the Saints we need two of three against the Jets, Bucs, Falcons. That's manageable, IMO. TWo of those are at home.

I will say this. This is exactly why I cant wait for the day the playoffs get expanded. I project atleast 2 or 3 teams in the NFC will have a winning record and miss the playoffs and that is just not right. Im a a very big believer that any team with a winning record should be guaranteed a playoff spot. I cant believe we are 8-3 and dont have a wild card on lock down yet, that just shows how flawed the playoff system is.

Historically the Panthers have always played terrible coming off a bye week, so I'd rather them enter the playoffs as a WC

Its a very simple solution. Expand the playoffs but to prevent crap teams coming in, have a stipulation that says you MUST have a winning record to get in (unless you win your division at .500 or less then ofcourse you get in) Its a win/win for both sides. The people that dont want expansion out of fear crap teams will get in get what they want and people like me that think winning teams should be guaranteed a playoff spot also get what they want.

True, but since entering the league Cam is 0-3 after a bye week. The team has always been terrible after a bye.

Agreed. Rivera has turned a corner but he still hasnt won after a bye and I would rather not put it to the test during the playoffs. Seahawks can have their playoff bye.

Im sorry, but this is the worst idea ive read in a long time. Winning record = guaranteed playoff spot? Wow. That takes about 75% of the greatness of this game away. This isnt some college basketball season where theres 325 division 1 schools. Each team in the NFL controls their own outcome. Divisions and wildcard spots are earned. Yeah, so maybe the Lions will fonish 9-7 and miss the playoffs.... Guess what? You wanna fix that? How about they dont lose to the fuggin Buccs at home?

Only change I would like to see is:

4 division winners and 2 WC teams still make it. However, the seeing is based on record. No more guaranteed home playoff game for a crappy division winner. Best two records get bye...next best host the WC round.

So today Detroit lost, Green Bay tied, Chicago lost, I am certainly hoping we take the division, but if we have to vie for a wild card, with AZs winning ways and having beaten us, could that AZ game come back to haunt us? How are we looking as far a the wild card goes? 

 

No way we loose to AZ  twice especially with they way our Offense is playing..... I would like us to win the division and get sure playoff birth. Then where coming for Seattle!
