That's exactly what AK is trying to instill in his kid.

You don't fail until you quit.

Maybe that is what he is trying to instill in him. Doesn't mean that the kid is learning that. He might be learning something entirely different.

Like Fireball my mother made me sit for hours in front of a bowl of nasty vegetable soup with fat chunks until I ate it to teach me not to waste food. At the time I learned that her stew was nasty, that I had to find ways to coax the dog to eat it when she wasn't looking, and that it was unfair to expect me to choke down a meal I hated to begin with and would have never chosen.

Since then I have an aversion to vegetable soup, often overeat unnecessarily and have had to relearn the process of stopping when I am full even if there is still food on the plate, and learned to avoid my mother's cooking.

Do you think that was what she was trying to teach me??

It made you learn to problem solve creatively(feeding the dog). :D

Seriously, you do have a point with the age of the kid though p55.

You have no idea how many times that dog was a lifesaver. The really hard part was making sure the dog wouldn't still be licking his chops as he went back into the living where they were all watching TV while I sat in the kitchen by myself. It was a give away to her.:D

Yeah, better just to not feed your kids at all.
