RIVERBOAT IS THE REAL DEAL

There was no riverboat to that call. It really was a do or die canal that at that point was a no brainer.

The riverboat call I wanted him to make was when the Dolphins challenged the 1st down and won the challenge and we were 4th and inches deep on our side of the field. That was the time I was pressing for Riverboat Ron to throall his chips on Black and let the wheel spin.

Who is the tall, dark stranger there?
Rivera is the name.
Ridin' the team to who knows where,
Cam is his companion,
Gamblin' is his game.

Smooth as the handle on shotgun.
Rivera is the name.
Wild as the 46D in Chicagoland,
Blowin' up the read option,
Easier to tame.

Riverboat, ring your bell,
Fare thee well, Goodell.
Cam is the QB that he loves the best.
Tampa Bay to New Orleans
Livin on fourth and one
Rivera is a legend of the south.

He had no choice at that point. So I don't give him that much credit. That's the only move to make. You punt there, with one timeout left, the game is over anyways (best case scenario you're getting it back with like 30 to 50 seconds left, no timeouts and likely at our own 15ish again. Game over.

So that fact he went for it, that was the only move to make. I won't say he's brilliant because it worked. It was the only call. I'm just glad he didn't go into a shell like last year he would have definitely just punted and lost the game.

And yet 98% of coaches would not have made the call.

I'll eat my Rivera crow. I defended him his first year and up until our losing streak last season. The Bills game was the last straw; wanted that mother fuger gone.

I've always said his game prep is usually excellent but management is horrible. He's learned how to manage the game and I'm loving every second of it. Riverboat Ron for COY

Agreed it's a call you have to make. However many coaches are not ballsy enough to actually do it and rather be conservative. So I give ron credit in being different than most coaches in the league.

Agreed, that would have been ballsy.  I wanted rivera to make the call also. This team is almost automatic on 4th and inches.

THAT IS WHAT THE fug WE ARE TALKING ABOUT RIVERRON. I was thinking to myself, it's less than 5 minutes on the clock. Irregardless of field position we have to be in 4 down territory. AND GODDAMIT RON YOU ARE A BEAUTIFUL MAN FOR TRUSTING CAM AND THE OFFENSE.

Amen! Great to see Ron's turnabout, and I agree with everything in your enthusiastic post...except "irregardless" is not a word. Just use "regardless." LOL!
