How easy (or hard) is it for you to watch games?

It's easier than it used to be because I don't put as much importance on results of Panthers games as I used to. Used to be I'd be on edge the entire game because I had too much emotion invested in the games.

Lately it's been some of both. Harder because we now actually have something to lose, but easier because we also have the most potential of any team since at least 2008. It's really intriguing to see what will happen this season.

This for me.

I'm mentally exhausted after the game. It's pretty sad almost. My dad would always give me poo for yelling at the TV when I was living at home.

I'm only 25 so every now and then I go back home and watch football on Sundays. I work out of my house and my job is 24/7 so it's nice to get away. My dad, 2 sundays ago said I shouldn't get so worked up over grown men playing a sport. He has a point but I can't help it. I love football and i love the Panthers.

Anyone else ever have to justify to someone why they get so worked up over these games? If so what do u say?

I've had to justify this to my girlfriend a few times before. And when I was growing up, my dad used to ask me sometimes why I watched the games at all - all I ever seemed to do was yell angrily at the TV, so he thought I didn't enjoy it at all.

I never had a good answer for my dad, and I've never had one for my girlfriend either. I just said, "I don't know, and I don't think I can help it".

But this season I've been strangely calmer altogether for the most part. Can't really explain that one either.

I take my anxiety meds everyday late at night... on Sundays I take them at 1pm.

That should tell you something.

I still have some meds that I used to take for anger control lying around from when I took them twice a day. For the SF and NE games, I took one a few minutes before each game. Hadn't done that until the SF game, but this season is getting more dramatic. I didn't want to do something that might freak out the friends I watched the games with.

I grew up listening to football on the radio because, well, the Bills' games were not on TV. You learned the game and strategies of football that way. I have no problem understanding all that is happening on the field, the why's and the how's. Been following football since I was 9. I live for gameday. I watch the TV games by myself texting the entire time with my son. I get loud.

However, I started to notice that when the Panthers lost, coworkers on Mondays treated me like someone in my family had died. That's when I knew I was taking a game I had no control over waaaaay too seriously.  Health issues, a granddaughter, and other life events now have me thoroughly enjoying the games, win or lose, because I love the game itself. I love the strategies, the chess moves, the art of war, but you have to follow one team all season to appreciate all that goes into it. No anger, no stress but a lot of excitement. I start getting excited on Saturday and don't fully calm down until Monday lol.

The Panthers are certainly the most stressful thing in my life.

It gets much harder to watch when we are a good team as each game has serious influence on the playoffs. My heart rate literally races in crucial parts of the game. Its a nice release when we win, but when we lose.... depression. Anger. Anxiety.

I care way to much about the Panthers

A few hormonally charged years ago the Panthers could cause me both unimagined joy and ulcer inducing heartache.

The last few years have toughened my skin but I have to say these last to games have put my nerves to the test. I'm still eternally optimistic before kickoff, the definition of a cynic during the game and depending on the outcome, in your face I told you so suck mah deek, or don't talk to me for the rest of the year won't listen to radio sandy vag.

It used to be very hard on me.

But one of the early 2000 seasons when my daughter was a little girl she told my wife that she hated football because it made daddy mad and made the day a sad day.

Pretty much ended me getting torqued over the games on the spot.

Now its easy regardless of how they play.  I might yell at the TV once or twice but nothing more than that.

Easy.

I used to invest my entire life into the team. Then I learned the truth: it's just a game. Getting angry, fed up, overly hyped, insulted, etc. over this team is a waste of my own life. I live in the best city in the world. I watch the team each week, but there is so much more out there than the Panthers. Life is too short to punch walls or yell at the TV.

Good Lord....let it go man.

I let the tivo buffer build up, and skip forward when the defense is on, then if there is a good defensive series I back up. Otherwise I move on.

Its just something that I started doing to remain calm during the game lol. I have that game rewind deal so I can always watch the full games later.

Interesting to me since our defense is what has been keeping us in the games...
