Ranking our O-line

Watching the game again on NFL Replay I paid close attention to the times Cam left the pocket and took off down the field (not designed runs), about 4 times. Each time the o-line held and did well. Even Gruden commented on that. But Cam held the ball longer because everyone down field was covered and that is when most o-lines start to have trouble.  Add that your QB starts to scramble & the defense starts chasing him, protection just gets much harder.  I'm glad Cam isn't trying to force the ball into coverage and is instead pulling it down and running.

great point, exactly how ive felt about the situations by watching games

i disagree. we dont need a slot type wr. we have two ready to man the slot if we draft a true #1, smitty or ginn. also your not finding a megatron type in the 2nd in our range. getting a true #1 could put smitty in the slot and increase his production for a few more years while also being a security blanket in the middle of the field for cam. i just believe gettlement can find us those hog mollies we want in round 2, 3, 4 or later

The talent level for Lineman drops a lot from 1st and down...........you see the difference between Star Lotulelei and other lower round DT.

I say we take a RG   to build the line from the inside out like Saints did. We have LT, LG  & C  ....Byron Bell has improved and i would stick with him at RT.  Drafting a RG like Gabe Jackson would give us a top line for years. We would have a balanced line that has Technical / finesse  & the Athletic / Power for pass protection and run blocking from the starters to backup. Plus we are going to be drafting 25 or lower in the 1st round and the talent value of Lineman > vs WR

Second round I would prefer a TE  since we already have depth at WR with (Lafell, Ginn, Hixon)  and we are better with 2 TE set offense.

Starting line: LT (Gross) / LG (Silatolu) / C (Kalil)  / RG (Jackson) / RT (Bell)

Backup line: LT (Chandler) / LG (Wharton) / C (Byers) / RG (Kugbila) / RT (Williams / Campbell)

I have no trouble believing the stats, but I don't think they tell the whole story.

There's been a fair amount of adjustment in the game plan to account for line issue. It's. the same thing they tried to do in 2006 with Delhomme in 2006, but it didn't work as well then as it's working this season with Newton.

We do still need some personnel upgrades.

i rather wait and see how kugbila pans out. we can always fill RG in free agency, look at how we found warton.

you keep talking about depth at wr. yes we have that but who's the game changer. which one does the defense have to prepare for. which one keeps the defensive coordinator up at night. you only find those in the 1st round the same thing with a TE which we will probaly be in better position for (Austin Jenkins or Eric Ebon)

Yea but those WR that keeps  defensive coordinator in nightmare are not going to fall to Carolina at  25 or below in the draft ladder .......those WR are usually top 10 and comes in rarely ......look at last year class and name a WR that is doing that right now?

I know you can find a Gem in the late rounds but  I believe we should build a Elite OL like the DL we have..... not some average line that is in middle of the pack....... OL & DL are the foundation of the football team and we should build a Elite line on both side of the ball for long term since we have young team and a young franchise QB

As for Kugbilla I think he will be excellent and having him as a backup or starter in case of injury will be good as we should have top group of lineman from starters to backup.

i agree that ususally the top WR usually go top 10 but unlike last year class this years class is very deep a WR. also this years class will have a lot of Qbs taken b4 our pick along with your usally cream of the crop Tackles and DE. in this scenario it would make our 25th pick for instance more like a 14 pick in terms of talent we could pick up. meaning we could get lucky and land a Marquise Lee due to injury concerns or Mike Evans if he falls due to combine lack of 40.

and even if all the elite WR are gone taking a Ausitin Jenkins or a Eric ebon for TE would still probably better than going Guard. also consider the fact that if Star didnt fall in our laps we were strongly rumored to want TE Tyler Eifert so im sure Gettlemen and Shula want to run the 2 TE set. actually a TE would be the combination of what we both want. Me a weapon for Cam and you a blocker for run/pass protection.

also Gettlemen didnt reach for Kugbilla in the 4th round despite what other draft experts said for him to be a back up
