Ranking our O-line

Chandler was pretty bad his first game but he looked better on MNF.  Bell sucks but he has little spurts where he's ok.  The rest of the line is formidable.

I like to think we're somewhere around 15-20 overall.  If we get a RT that can be an eventual Gross-heir, that would be great for us.

I suspect Cam is a big part of this. His evasiveness has artificially inflated the pass blocking numbers by turning a large percentage of potential sacks into positive gains, and his big yardage scrambles on otherwise busted plays is inflating our running numbers. If we had a typical pocket passer who couldn't break one (or in the case of NE and ATL games, 3 or 4) tackles, I think our OLine numbers would be abysmal.

even more reason to go best available weapon in the 1st round and trust Gettlemen to pick his ideal Hog Mollies in later rounds for the Oline

All skill position success is someway tied the performance of the OL.....Time for the QB to throw and opening the running lanes....

Plus we are a run first team that sets up the pass and our identity and strength is in the run game. We need to build a top OL like the DL that dominates the trenches in all manner whether it is pass protection or run block.   If we have top Line on both side of the field we will be relevant for years.

1st- OL  - (RG, RT, & LT)  my favorite (Gabe Jackson 6'4" 340 lbs msstate) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydrgJ0V1xY4

2nd- WR -- (WR- slot player like  Percy Harvin or  Tall athletic like Megatron)

3rd- CB / S

4th- TE

Gross wants to play another several years.

Woh, thats a strong statement from an aging big man. Is he capable? This might be his best year ever so he sure as hell cant retire next year, but what do you think he has left in the tank? He's a LT, do you think he'll finish up 2 or 3 yrs from now on the right or no?

i disagree. we dont need a slot type wr. we have two ready to man the slot if we draft a true #1, smitty or ginn. also your not finding a megatron type in the 2nd in our range. getting a true #1 could put smitty in the slot and increase his production for a few more years while also being a security blanket in the middle of the field for cam. i just believe gettlement can find us those hog mollies we want in round 2, 3, 4 or later

I dont know what the stats say but they do not pass the eye ball test...the running backs do not have holes to run though and Cam is in the top 10 in sacks...that doesnt sound like a great line to me

i bet there coverage sacks more than anything from not having anyone open to throw to

but we dont have a typical pocket passer so we shouldnt force ourselves to build a line like we have one. look what Cam has done with this recieving core since he's been in the league. just stop and think what he could do with a legit #1wr along with everybody else. EPIC

Expecting a LT to be taken in the first round, and a RG in the second.  Maybe vice verca, or one of those positions could be addressed in free agency.  Either way, OL will be the highest priority next offseason.  Gettleman has to be choking on his clam chowda watching Cam scramble out of pressure.

Watching the game again on NFL Replay I paid close attention to the times Cam left the pocket and took off down the field (not designed runs), about 4 times. Each time the o-line held and did well. Even Gruden commented on that. But Cam held the ball longer because everyone down field was covered and that is when most o-lines start to have trouble.  Add that your QB starts to scramble & the defense starts chasing him, protection just gets much harder.  I'm glad Cam isn't trying to force the ball into coverage and is instead pulling it down and running.
