Double Dip Drafting

Mr. Scot

Recommended Posts

Please double-dip on the OL. You can never have too many big guys on the team. Physically intimidating works. Having a converted DL STARTING at RG?? I pray that Dave Gettleman signs a G in the next few weeks. Having a converted DL starting at OG can't be good. So far so good. How long will that last? Fingers crossed.

i still have that list of people who threw temper tantrums and what they said that i'm planning on using for an OP in the near future...

i would double dip on WR before O line for some reason...

But i wouldn't be mad at a double dip on O-line. But i'm in the mindset that Rayzor has posted on here about not having too many rookies on the lines and investing in quality veterans via FA.

Since the O-line has actually played pretty well this year, AND we keep winning more and going down draft order, I'd say WR in the first definitely.  I'm not sure it's worth taking O-line toward end of the first, since I think usually the top prospects are top-15/20.  I think you can find value in a WR at the late first more so than O-line.  Plus we'll have some people back from injury.  The position on the o-line we need to look into most is LT but like I said, you won't find LT's worth a late first still there.

I wouldn't mind FA WR AND a WR in the first, then maybe O-line in the 2nd or cornerback.  I think we'll definitely grab a few O-line for depth.  It wouldn't hurt to get another LB somewhere for more depth too.

I hope he does double dip at WR.  One in the 1st, one in the 3rd or 4th.  OT in the 2nd (our O-line has been bad, but I don't think we need quantity in that area, just quality.  We have our two young Gs coming back from injury) and CB in the 3rd or 4th.

Let's assume Lafell comes back at a reasonable price and we resign Ginn.  That leaves us with 35 year old Smitty, Ginn and Lafell.  I'd feel much more satisfied with a depth chart of Watkins (or whoever in the 1st), Smitty in the slot, Ginn and Lafell rotating at #2 with a mid round draft pick being brought along so in the next few years when Smitty's ready to retire we have his replacement (hopefully Watkins) as well as the depth chart filler (mid round pick) already seasoned and producing.
