Carolina made a statement last Sunday when they beat San Francisco on the road. QB Cam Newton, however, made his own statement last night.

so what do you want?

winning and being noticed?

or losing and going back under the radar?

it's one or the other. there is no middle ground.

We're in that middle ground now. They aren't underdogs anymore and they aren't super bowl favorites, and as much as I'd like to see the unadulterated love for them that they deserve I think the team is better off with the "BUT" that's been conjured up.

Also I'm just referring to this particular moment because of its impact on the team's image and psyche. I don't sit around and hope for controversial wins every week. Of course blowing everyone out every time would be great.

Nope. Listened to Mike and Mike on my way to work and Cowherd on my lunch break plus post game and all I heard about was the call. They probably led with the talk about the call, then talked about Cam after I couldn't listen.

Ummmm....look through this very Forum and count how many more threads there are since last night about "The Call" than actual worthwhile threads about the Pathers performance. It may take awhile, because there are a ton of them. This place is more guilty than any national media outlet. It's the hot topic right now and what people are talking about. Everyone loves controversy but it will all be forgotten in a couple days and the National media will be loving the Panthers and they will be the talk of the NFL.

in a couple days all attention will shift to the games coming up this week and the industry will do it's usual hyping up of the teams that are headed north. we are one of them.

"the call" will be mentioned only as "fire" for the pats getting ready for peyton and the broncos.

aside from that it will be forgotten.

as we head into miami and the jets get ready to come here...all talk will be on cam and keek and ron and the streak this team is on. the call at the end will be barely a footnote.

as everyone moves forward, which they will rather quickly, that call will be pretty much forgotten, but what will be remembered is how the panthers did when the pats came to town and the statement that they made then and when they went to san fran.

Locker room gets both the confidence boost and the "us against the world" motivation.

not gonna buy that because there is always going to be that "us against the world" going on.

on your way up, there's going to be those who don't think you belong.

when you get there, there's going to be those who say you don't deserve to be there or who deny you can stay there.

when you stay there, there's going to be those who can't wait for you to be knocked down.

when you are doing well, there's always going to be detractors.

the respect may be there, but that isn't necessarily love. usually respect makes you a target to everyone else.
